Just picked this meme up from Rachel,

I say ... and you think ... ?

1. Resolution :: goals

2. Happy :: Me

3. Bubbly ::coka cola

4. Kiss :: Hubby, now that I'm feeling better.

5. Leather :: Would love a leather chair.

6. Fancy :: pants

7. Pages :: Web

8. Stupid :: try not to be.

9. Apologize :: often

10. Secrets :: Wouldn't be a secret if I told you, would it?

Silly thing. Consider yourself tagged.

Well, I cast on the 97 stitches and had to just knit, did 3 rows and somehow I counted and had 111 stitches and it looked like crap. So, frogged it and will
try again, later.

We will have a quiet New Year's Eve here at home. Lucky if we stay awake that long.
LOL

Saw a friend who was home visiting and she was knitting with double points,
and I allowed I had tried metal ones and they defeated me. She had wooden
ones, and they seemed to work well. She said she tried the metal ones and
couldn't use them either. So, guess I'm not the only one. I do want to
make a pair of socks this year that fit me. It's either try the buy and
try the wooden double points, or learn one of the circular ones. But first
I am knitting this shawl, if I can keep from splitting the yarn and getting
more stitches.

So, I've been knitting.

Saturday Sky

Nice day actually. Was supposed to snow or something, but it is around the
low 40's and not too bad out today.

No pictures yet, but spent the last couple days winding balls of yarn.
Quite a while ago, I bought 3 hanks of Knit Picks yarn called Shimmer,
to make a Candle Flame Shawl. I put the hank around the backs of 2 dining
room chairs, back to back. Then hand wound the ball from there. Took a
while. My left hand got tired holding the ball while winding with the
right. Odd. Anyway, Now I need to cast on 97 stitches to start this
thing. Can't decide what type of cast on to use.

So, almost knitting.

Saturday, December 23, 2006

Well, I finished the washcloth I was making.
Here it is in all it's errors. I don't worry
too much when I make a mistake if it's not
too bad since it's just for my use. If I
was making it to give, I would frog and
several times probably. Oh ran out of
yarn on line 58, 3 rows short. Even
used a pink cotton to finish casting
off as I ran out of yellow. It was a partial
skein when I started but thought there
was enough and there almost was.

So, I've been knitting. Next is a case for my iPod Nano.
Saturday Sky

What a yucky looking sky this morning. White. But I see in the photo,
that it looks blue. Not by any stretch of the imagination. It rained
all day yesterday, and during the night. Rain again earlier. When I
went out to take the picture, it was just plain white. Evidently the
camera saw enough blue in the white to make it look blue. Odd. We
know cameras don't see color the same way we do. Hence something we
knit, doesn't come out the exact color it was knit in when photographed.
Putting it on the Internet may change some colors too.

So, I've been knitting

Thursday, December 21, 2006

Here is the scarf I knitted for my friend, Peggy.
The color isn't quite right, it's a dark blue but
not as dark as the picture.

Here is a picture of our Christmas Tree. It's fake, with both lights, and
fiber optic strands that change color. We didn't put any ornaments on it
as it's just Hubby and me this year. It's pretty enough as is. Sorry it's
such a dark picture.

I'm sick. Not fun. I'm giving my hubby a birthday party on Saturday
night. Better get better before then.

So, still knitting the dishcloth. Pictures when done.

Merry Meme
I got this from Pink Knitting Adventures. I thought it would be fun and help you all get to know me a little better.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper

2. Real tree or artificial? Used to be real, but just me and hubby have a fake one, with lights and fiberoptic fibers, we don't even have to decorate.

3.
When do you put up the tree? If it was up to me, Christmas Eve. But
it's not. When it was real, I got him to put it up as late as possible.
Now with the fake one, it was up at the beginning of the month.

4. When do you take the tree down? New Years Day

5. Do you like eggnog? No!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? a Ricky doll

7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, but I keep forgetting to put it up. No good place for it.

8. Hardest person to buy for? Parents

9. Easiest person to buy for? Hubby, he makes a list.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail, but hubby does most of them. I do the few I know.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Something that doesn't fit.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I love them all!!

13.
When do you start shopping for Christmas? Sometime in November. Hubby
is the late one. He's stopping tonight on the way home to get something
for me.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Yup...I'm careful to always give them to people who don't know the
original person. :)

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, I love it all!!!

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Colors

17. Favorite Christmas song? The Christmas song, you know Chestnuts roasting ---

17b.
Christmas Song That, When You Hear It, Makes Your Eyes Bleed And Your
Brains Start To Leak Out Your Ears, Because That Is Less Painful Than
Having To Listen To
Grandma got run over by a reindeer, ick.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Usually at home now, but used to travel to
see the folks. No money to do that any more.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? Let's try, Dasher and Dancer, Donner and Blitzen, Comet and Cupid, -- well that's 6, good enough?

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? I used to like the Angel, but as I said, no
decorations on the fake one.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Waiting for gifts to be delivered.

23. Favorite Christmas Tradition? Turkey, dressing and the whole bit.

24. Outdoor decorations? The house we live in now is so far from the road no one
would see them, but long ago we used to do a little. We do put a netting full of
lots
inside the dining room window, maybe someone across the valley can see
it? We enjoy it while walking around the house for exercise. Our
driveway goes all around the house so it's easy.

Look what I found in my mailbox yesterday.

Yes, a package from my Knitting Secret Pal 9. I had been expecting it, as
earlier the week before I got a package that was yarn from Lazy Perry Ranch.
Sorry forgot to take a picture of that. It was a 100% Merino Superwash, in a
pretty turquoise fading color. Two balls of it. And this package directly
from my Secret Pal

Then I took the things out of the envelope, a book and several packages, and
a card.

Once open, I found a book called Sock Hop. Cool. Then opened a skein of sock
yarn, that's a pretty blue, self striping yarn. Also a package of DPN's. It
has 5 each of sizes 000, 00, 0, and 1.

I had told her that I want to make socks, thus she sent me a sock making
package. In the card, she also says some more packages will be coming.
How nice.

The same day I got the package from my Secret Pal, there were also 3 other
boxes. I didn't take pictures of them, one was a present I got for hubby,
one was a package of gifts from my parents, and the third was Worm Bag that
I ordered for my circular needles. Works great too. Will try to remember
to take those other pictures.

I'm knitting. I finished the scarf for my friend, and got all the fringe
put on now. Just need to wrap. She will be here for hubby's party I'm
having on the 23rd, so will give it to her then. Then I am knitting the
mid month dishcloth. I'm just starting day 3 which was yesterday. Haven't
yet got my email, so don't have day 4 yet. I all ready made a goof, as I
did what I thought was right for a p2sso, and then looked it up, and found
I did it wrong, but couldn't undo it, so, there is one spot in 1 row, which
doesn't look right.

So, I've been knitting.

Saturday Sky

I took that around 9:30 AM this morning, about 45 minutes ago. Nice day
but chilly morning. It's supposed to be nice through Monday, temps in
the 50's during the day, here in PA. Then it will chill down 10 degrees
or more.

I finished the scarf for my friend. I'm putting the fringe on. Got one
end done and cut the yarn lengths for the other end.

Today starts the dishcloth, so we will get the first 10 rows today. The
last one was a Rocking horse which I goofed up on. Will try to pay more
attention to this one.

Tonight is an adult Christmas Party at church. I have to cook a Ham for
it. Should be nice. It will be nice as they usually have the kids come
to the Christmas party and it's noisy and I often don't even go, as all
3 of my kids are grown and gone.

So, I've been knitting.

Saturday Sky

I finally remembered to take my Saturday sky picture. Nice, but Cold day.

This morning, I went to our Church women's orgainization Christmas Party.
There was nice brunch that we had first, with lots of good things to eat.
After we ate, there was a program, "The Women who knew Jesus". It was
quite well done, and the cultural hall was decorated beautifully. There
were one group of trees all with white lights in the them grouped to the
side of the stage. Near the piano which was draped in red, there was a
decorated Christmas tree. The room had 10 round tables, set beautifully,
with two battery run candles on each table with a small centerpiece in
between. On the wall above the buffet table there was a huge wreath,
with red bows and white lights on it. Anyway, it was very nice. I had
invited a friend, but she never showed up. Must have had a problem.
I was asked to pick up a friend, who called me yesterday afternoon. I
went to her house at the specified time, and it appeared she was still
sleeping. I honked and then knocked on the door, but no Carolyn. When
I got to church, another friend, told me that she heard that Carolyn
called an ambulance last night with Chest pains. Anyway, the friend
at church found she was in the hospital. That is sad.

So, I'm still knitting the scarf.

Hi all,

Haven't posted lately, not sure why. Want to put a ticker thing for
Christmas on the top, but the code I got didn't say ticker on it, and it
was just the picture. Can any one tell me how to get a ticker, with all
the info on it? The site confuses me. Mostly about women problems.
The small ticker info, doesn't say much on how to do it. Maybe I need
to search google for it.

I've been knitting. I joined a dishcloth pattern list, where they give
you two patterns a month, on the first and 16th. They give you 10 lines
of pattern a day until finished. The one I just finished was a rocking
horse, but I must have goofed, as my horse isn't. Have the base, but
somewhere I goofed on the horse. I'm using it as a washcloth, so no I'm
not going to frog. It's only meant for me anyway. Will try again on
the 16th, and see if I can do better. I suppose I should give you the
URL for the site, maybe later.

Need to finish decorating my house for Christmas. I usually do it on the day
after Thanksgiving, but was away this year, so it didn't get done.

Oh, I'm knittng a scarf for a friend for Christmas. Have maybe 20 inches so far.

So, I've been knitting.

Hi All,

We just got back from Las Vegas and Southern Utah where we went for vacation.

One of the places we went was Zion National Park. Here's some photos of the
Park.

This first one, the points are called something like Nephi, and Moroni. Probably naming them wrong, but those names were on some peak or other.

This one I really liked. It was called Angel's Footstool, I think that's right. Took several pictures of it, but this was the best.

I forgot, we first went to Hoover Dam, sometimes called Boulder Dam.
Had to take two pictures to get it all in.

This is a statue of a guy that may have been working on the dam. It looked
really cool.

We took the tour of the dam inner workings. It was interesting. Over 100 men
died while working on the dam. Some from heat exposure. It was really hot.
They were also building it during the depression, which was quite a feat.

We also went to Las Vegas, but forgot to take any pictures there. Silly me.

So, I've been knitting, one of these days I'll take a picture of that.
Saturday Sky

It rained all night, so it's not a good sky. Just gray and not nice.

So, next post for knitting.

Saturday, October 14, 2006

Hi all,

Very cold here in PA. Frost on the ground when I got up. Brrr.

Well here is my Saturday Sky picture.

Took it off the kitchen balcony in my shirt sleeves and about froze. Came in
and put a sweater on after taking the picture. When I took the sweater off
the door knob in here, I found the Booga Bag I knitted in 100% wool and
shrunk, quite a while ago. Maybe I'll use it for church tomorrow. Put a
few things from my purse in there, and finally use it for a change. It's got shoulder handles, so it should work good.

Wll, I have cast on half the stitches I need for this silly hat. Not sure
I'll get it done for Wednesday. But I'll try. I know, some of you, can knit
a hat in a day, but not me. I'm slow.

SoI've been casting on.

Friday, October 13, 2006

Hi all,

My Chocolate pal sent me this box of goodies. Sorry Jennifer, for taking
so long to post, as my computer died and it took a while for hubby to get it running
again, and then I had to reinstall everything. Such fun.

Anyway, she sent me this good box of Chocolate things. Well, the Choclate was, notice was, Milky Way Midnights in bite size, a bag of Dark Chocolate Linder Truffles(yummy), a fancy chocolate bar, tootie rolls (didn't eat as they pull off my filings), a dark chocolate Hot chocolate mix (which I couldn't have as it has coffie in it. Also a cook book of Chocolate things.

Then on to other things. A pattern for a Sofie Bag. Also yarn to make it.
Yummy yarn!

A Chocolate hand dyed skein of 100% wool. She dyed it and I think she spun it too. Also a skein of Plymouth Yarn, Baby Alpaca Brush, in a dark chocolate color. Jennifer suggested that I make the Sofie bag or something similar with her hand dyed yarn, and maybe something like fingerless gloves with the yummy Baby Alpaca.

They will both have to wait I suppose as I'm working on a hat, and just had to frog it as I wound the circular around my head and it's much too big. So need to cast on fewer stitches. Want to finish before Wednesday, when I teach the hat to a group of women, but I'm a slow knitter.

Oh, forgot something else she gave me.

Jennifer made these wonderful beaded stitch markers. Aren't they great?

If you like Jen's hand dyed yarn and stitch markers, her name is Jennifer Church. I'm sorry I lost her email and web site when the computer crashed. If she emails me I will post it for you.

So, I've been knitting, frogging, knitting.

Saturday Sky

Sky doesn't look too great. Clouding over. If you look towards the bottom, you will see some autumn tree colors. Just a little.

Let's see, I learned to dye yarn at my knitting guild this week. It's very pretty.
Forgot to take a pic, will do so later. This week, we had lightening, a very close strike, and it took out the cable modem, and my Ethernet card. Didn't touch anything else I think. So when the Cable guy came to replace the cable modem, he plugged something into USB slot on the front of the computer. So hubby said, I could probably unplug it. I all ready have the extra printer in one of the slots and this takes up the other. But it's the one I use to plug in my camera or MP3 player. So, took it out and rebooted. It said there was an Internet problem. So evidently that takes the place of my fried Ethernet card. Such fun. So when I want to use my camera, to say, put in my Saturday Sky picture, I unplug the Internet, and put in my camera pictures. Then I put it back in so I can get on the Internet to put it my blog. We'll have to move it to a back USB spot. Hope there's enough wire to do that.

Since the computer is under the desk and it's messy with wires under there, it's a real pain. Maybe I'll try later, unless I can get hubby to do it. We'll see.

Anyway, I started to knit a hat for this class I will teach. It starts on the 18th. Was hoping to show it tomorrow, but only have two rows so far. Better get busy. Guess I can show it next Sunday.

So, I've been knitting.

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

Hi,

I totally forgot the Saturday Sky this week. Silly me. Will put next Saturday Sky in my planner so I won't forget.

So, I've been knitting. Here is the Ball Band Dish Cloth, that I've been working on for weeks. Or not working on for weeks. Didn't knit for almost a month. Any way, I took it out the other day, and finished it.

Can you see how it sort of leans to the right? I Think that happened when I deleted a stitch on one side, and added it on the other. Who knows? I left it though as it is a dish cloth. What does it matter?

I've now just cast on for a hat. I'm going to use this hat, in teaching a class of women how to knit and we'll knit the hat. Small enough project that they won't have to knit forever. So, will need to get the demo hat knit pretty quick. I think they are planning the first class on the 12th. We'll see. The hat pattern is from Knitting Rules, by Stephanie Pearl Mcphee.

Well, Pennsylvania is in the news lately. That Amish School killings topping the list. Also a well known Country Junction store out 209 towards Lehighton burned down this morning. Many of us local people have been there many times. The place was huge, and evidently it all burned down. Odd. Luckily it burned early this morning before people showed up. Haven't heard yet what the cause was.

So, I've been knitting.

Monday, October 02, 2006

This is the knitting survey that Secret Pal 9 wanted done.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I like 100% wool, as I like to felt. Don't like those novelty yarns, fuzzy etc.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

Don't have anything to store strait needles in. I use a basket, but it's always a problem to find the right pair.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

Let's see, I've been knitting for about 6 years. I'm thinking I'm intermediate in knitting. Let's see I learned by reading a book years ago, and made a baby blanket, with cables that came out the size of a doll blanket. Didn't know about gauge. Never knitted again till 6 years ago, I found a how to knit class online, as I needed to learn about gauge. Was suprised that gauge was the 6 th class.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

No, afraid not. But gee I wish for a ball winder and the thing to hold the skein.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)

Vanilla

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Yes I have sweet tooth, but am on a diet and can't eat it at the moment.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

No, don't spin. Love to read so much, that I don't get my knitting done sometimes.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

Love Country Music. Yes, computer can MP3's and I have an MP3 player. (Not ipod)

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

Absolutely like BLues. Do wear a nice green, but greens are hard to get the one i like. Also like Mauve. No oranges or flourescent colors.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

Married, no pets since our poodles died a few years ago. Children all grown and out of the house.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

YES to scarves, hats and mittens. No ponchos please.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Wash Cloths. Can I help it? Mindless knitting I can do anywhere. Am making a hat, to teach in a knitting class at church. Want to knit socks but just haven't gotten there yet. Have made scarves, fingerless gloves, that sort of thing. Want to make a sweater, have a neat pattern my last pal gave me, but need to get the yarn one of these days. Actually I'm on a diet and hope to wait a while to get the yarn, as I might need a smaller size next year.

13. What are you knitting right now?

That hat I'm making. Figured I want to have it by the 8th when I will show what we will be doing after I teach them to knit. I'm not a fast knitter.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

YES, who doesn't.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Not plastic. I use circular more than strait, but use both.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

No, that's what I really wish for. Couldn't think of the name Swift up above.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

About 6 months.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas I suppose.

19. Is there anything that you collect?

Yarn, oh, have a couple witches. Used to be my nickname long ago. Love their ugly faces.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on?

Would like the very small in number DPN's like 0 and 1. Have too many books. Like Yarn of many types, alpaca, wool, etc.

What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

None at the moment.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Lace knitting maybe?

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Not a sock knitter yet. Want to be. I wear a woman's size 11. Big feet.

23. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)

02/25

Hi all,

Just updated to Blogger's beta thing. Lost all my side line things. A little frustrating. Well, maybe I'll find other things to put there. We'll see.

It is a lot easier to move things around on my blog now. Looks like it will
be all right. I like blue, so now have a blue blog. Silly me.

Had a busy day yesterday. Went to donate blood and found out again for
umteenth time, that my iron is too low. I think I'm done donating blood.
Too frustrating. After that I went down to a K-Mart and bought baby gifts
for a shower in the afternoon. Came home, ate lunch, wrapped presents,
and got ready to go. Lots of ladies at the shower. She got a lot of nice
things. She's expecting a girl after having 4 boys. Thus the shower.
Immediately after the shower I had a Women's Conference that was
broadcast from Salt Lake City. So, by the time that was over, it was a
relief to have the day over.

So,still haven't been knitting.

Saturday, September 23, 2006

Saturday Sky, Yuck, Rain.

By the way, this was taken at 2 PM today not at dusk.

Guess it's been since last Saturday that I posted. Silly me. Haven't knitted. Not sure why. Been busy I suppose. Tried to give blood today. My iron is one point too low. Haven't been able to give blood for quite a while due to low iron. Even now taking Iron pills. It has improved, but not enough to give blood. I've about had it, and don't think I will offer to give blood anymore. Too frustrating.

Losing weigt, or at least inches I think. Went down a size in Pants, which makes me feel good anyway.

Have had a cold sore since last Saturday. Used Abreva, doesn't seem to making it disappear sooner. Such is life.

Have a baby shower to go to in a couple hours. Then tonight there is a Woman's broadcast at church tonight. Why does everyting happen the same day? Oh well.

So, not been knitting yet.

Saturday Sky

It's a nice day today. We've had rain for several days, so it's nice today for a change. Temps in the 70's. Hubby has been working outside all day so far. Across the driveway from the front of the house, he used to store cut wood, for the wood stove, on the hillside. Well, we haven't burnt wood now for many years. So the wood on the hill, the stuff on the bottom has decomposed somewhat. We've had an Ant problem this year. First small ants and then the big Carpenter Ants. In our bedroom no less. So, hubby found under some of the wood, lots of ants. Maybe this is where they are coming from? So, he sprayed them and dug out all the wood. Now the hillside needed top soil. So he finished digging out the wood. I went out and pointed to places that had wood in it for him. Now he has had topsoil delivered, and is now spreading it onto the hill. Lots of work. He's a Saturday warrier and will pay for it tomorrow. Sore muscles etc. By the way, we haven't had any more ants in the house, so I guess that's where they were coming from.

Here he is shoveling dirt, with the hillside, and the new topsoil at the bottom of the picture.

So, that's what he is up to. I've been busy finishing a book I've been reading.
Read while eating lunch, and continuted till I finished. You know how it is when you are almost done.

I've joined the Chocolate Swap. Tried to get the button for it, and can't seem to do it. Been slowly getting together some chocolate, found a box. Need to get to a yarn store and find some chocolate yarn. Haven't gotten our pals yet, maybe this weekend. But good to be prepared.

Still haven't knitted. Silly me.

So, no knitting

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

Hi all,

Rain, today and tomorrow. Such fun. But suppose we can use it.

Should pull out my knitting and work on it. Silly me.

Well, the day is passing me by, better get busy.

So, not knitting yet.

Saturday Sky

Should have taken this earlier, as when we were eating dinner,
there were some really cool clouds. Such is life. Sorry for
the corner of the house in it. I took it from the garden on
one side of the house.

Well, I just joined Saturday Sky also. Had a little trouble
getting it in the right place on my blog. Of course the
html for it is at the bottom of the things on the right. Such
is life. One of these days I will have to learn html.

Went to my knitting guild last night. We had a class on
Knit to Fit. Changing patterns to fit where dimensions of pattern
don't fit dimensions of person for which you are knitting. Now,
translating what I learned into something knitted will be interesting.
Not sure I am ready for that yet.

Have not been knitting lately. Need to get back into it. I'm a
tad busy with CYLC, or Change Your Life Challenge. The online
book has 70 days of info. You read one day at a time. Today
I will be on day 15. Let's see, a friend gave me the html to highlight
a URL. Will have to look it up and see what I can do. If I find it,
will post the URL for CYLC if your interested in my next post.

Let's see, will have to take a pic of the sky tomorrow and post it.

So, haven't been kniting lately.

Forgotten

Yes, I forgot. I posted all about my secret pal box of goodies, and
forgot to tell you that in the card she sent, she told me she's making
me a Harry Potter scarf, but ran out of yarn. So when she finishes she
will send it to me. Isn't she a sweetie?

We went out to dinner tonight. Went to the McDonalds near here that just
reopened after getting redone. Looks very nice now. Food is the same though.

We thought we might rent a movie tonight. But, couldn't find any worth watching.
Suppose it is Friday night, and most of the good movies were all ready checked
out.

By the way, I like Harry Potter books and movies. Silly me.

So, not knitting yet.
Look what I got today.
It's from my Secret Pal, who's name is Crystal.

Here's the things that were in the box, before I opened each of them.

And here they are all opened.

She gave me so many nice things. The big book, is a Crossword Puzzle Dictionary. She made a cute cover for it, and it says, 'Magic Spell Book'. Cute. There is a skein of 100% Wool, and lots of Kool Ade to dye it with. She also put a bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans in it too. Oh, there's a card too, in which she tells me her name is Crystal. I all ready know she lives in North Carolina. Check out her blog at www.shadkitty.blogspot.com. Sorry, I don't know HTML so don't know how to make that clickable.

Anyway, Our knitting Guild is having a class on Kool Ade Dying in our October meeting. So now I have some yarn to try the dying with.

I guess I told Crystal that I do crossword puzzles, and that dictionary will sure help.

Haven't been knitting still. Silly me. Spend my free time reading lately. Will pick up that dishcloth one of these days.

So, haven't been knitting.

No knitting this week, been busy reading. Silly me.
No pictures either, it's late. The West End Fair
is this week. Hubby and I went on Monday night. The
parking lot was muddy, since it rained Sunday when it
first opened. Luckily it didn't rain while we were
there. I had worn my sandals, which was the wrong
thing. My feet were quite sore by the time we went
home. I looked for my cousin at the Craft tent. They
do wooden crafts. It's about the only time I get to
see her. Wouldn't you know she wasn't there on Monday
night, her hubby was minding the store. Thought I would
go today, but it was raining, so didn't. We'll see what
it does tomorrow. Actually the fair is about the same
every year. But we always go at least once every year.

Gee, I am tired, and should head to bed. More next time.

So, haven't been knitting.

Monday, August 21, 2006

Hi all,

Sorry it's taken me so long to post. Silly me.

We went away this past weekend. Went down to Baltimore to visit our son, Ben and his wife, Denise. We parked in front of their house after visiting the Baltimore National Aquarium which was great. Anyway, Friday night, someone broke the rear side window in my hubby's Subaru Outback. We had gotten dressed to go somewhere Saturday morning. I got in, and hubby walked around the back of the car to get in, when he said "OH NO!" I looked back and the window was in thousands of little pieces sort of still hanging in the frame. Of course when he slammed the back door some of the glass fell out. So, we had to call Ben, as they had left before us, and we had locked the door on the way out. So, he got a ride back, and we called Insurance and they found a place in Baltimore for us to get it fixed. Then, he called the place and got an appt. for 12:30 that afternoon. Ben went with him. We have a $500 deductible and wouldn't you know the window, which had an antenna in it, cost $498. Such fun.

Later that day, we took Ben and Denise out to dinner. We walked to the restaurant which turned out to be a Western type. The decorations were eclectic from hanging pine cones, to Album covers for the menu. Also Chinese lanterns, etc. I ended up having a BBQ Burger. It was pretty good.

Saturday night, luckily, the car was ok. We went to church in Baltimore. Then we went back to their house, changed our clothes, ate some lunch and then went home.

I did some knitting on that washcloth. Did I tell you that I frogged it all and restarted it. So did maybe two 12 row repeats while I was there. Can't knit too long at a time or the Carpal tunnel acts up.

Promise to write more often, and put some pics up next time.

So, I've been knitting

Book Meme

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

"Writer W.M. Lewis said, "The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it." So many of us have wasted so much of our vital energy talking about the great life we could have or will have or should have. All that is fine, but it will not deliver us the best year of our lives."

Well, the title of that book is in the 3 line quote. Take a guess and leave me a comment. Also, you are tagged for the book meme.

So, I've been knitting, frogging, knitting.

Friday, July 21, 2006

Hello, It's about time I posted to this post. I always seem to put off doing that for some reason. Anyway, today I got a package from Secret Pal 8. Forgot to take a picture of the package first, so here is what was inside.

Ok, First is some double sided needles, size 2. Then a cool book mark that says 'From Small beginnings comes great things.' Proverb.

Then there are lots of stitch markers in blue and clear glass beads. They appear to be only useful on small needles, and they all have a tag at the bottom saying 'Create'.

Then the next thing is a pattern I've wanted for a while for a Knit Picks Fair Isle Cardigan. I love the cardigan and now I will have to order the yarn pallet for it. I've never done fair isle so this weill be the first time for that. Anyway I was very excited to get the pattern.

The thin big thing is a folder, which says it's pattern is called 'Hot Chocolate', isn't that appropriate? My pal says it's for holding patterns or important papers.

Then the very neatest thing is the big book. It's a knitting journal, and she wrote my name on it, and the quote from the book mark. I asked for a knitting journal, and then she sends me a really cool one with lots and lots of room in it.

Altogether I say my Secret Pal has outdone herself and sent me a very wonderful group of things. Thank you so much Pal.

Oh, I promised to put a picture of my fingerless gloves.

This is while they were still on the needles almost done. Now they are finished. After I sew them up, I promise to put another picture up.

So, I need to sew the fingerless gloves up, and start a dishrag from Mason Dixon Kitting.

Saturday, July 08, 2006

Hi all,

Here it is another week. Well, I went to my knitting guild on Thursday night. There were about 7 of us there, vacations, I suppose. Neither of the guild's starter's were there, but we did fine and enjoyed chatting and knitting. I worked on those fingerless gloves doing several more rows, maybe 10 or 12. One member was talking about her trip to China the month before. That was interesting.

Got an email from the woman that has my name as Secret pal. She's teasing me saying she has a box all ready to send me, but she's not sending it yet. It's not nice to tease. LOL

I getting together some things to send to my secret pal. I won't tease her about though. Won't email her till I send it.

I should take a picture of those silly fingerless gloves in progress. Will try to do so next time I post.

It's been hot here in PA. Been sitting out on the deck each day in order to get vitamin D in my system. I usually read a chapter of a book I happen to be reading. Today I had a magazine. It was so hot, I only lasted about 10 min. instead of the usual 15. Think I went out too early. No burn though.

So, I've been knitting.

Friday, June 30, 2006

Well, figure I better post, so the secret pal police don't fuss at me. LOL

Haven't knitted at all. Been busy reading or re-reading a series of books. It's been a long time since I read it, and it's really good. The series is called 'The Work and the Glory.' It's a historical novel about the beginnings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I belong to that church, and the author has put a fictional family in the history of the church, so it's quite interesting. Anyway, been reading every chance I get, so haven't knitted at all. Silly me.

Need to get things together for my Secret Pal. Have a couple things, but will need to go to my LYS and get some yarn and a pattern or two for this Pal. Lucky girl. LOL

My dishwasher has been on the blink. Leaking like sieve is what's it's been doing. Hubby has been trying to fix it for over a week now. Been washing dishes by hand, which isn't too bad, since there's just the two of us. Guess I'm just spoiled having a dishwasher. It's only 5 years old, and shouldn't be leaking. Hubby now has it down to just a trickle, and then he did something else last night, and says I should run it after dinner, and we'll see if it leaks. I'll run it with a pan under where it had been leaking. Nothing like being somewhat pessimistic.

My knitting guild is next Thursday, so I will be knitting then anyway. Still have those fingerless gloves on the needles.

Been enjoying the sun the last few days. We had 7 days of hard rain, lots of flooding in the county. We didn't have any water, thank goodness. Delaware Water Gap is still flooded, and so are several other places along the Delaware River. It crested at 33'. Anyway, been sitting on the deck in the sun every day for the last 3 days and reading a chapter. That takes about 15 min. which is plenty of time to be in the sun. Slowly getting a little tan although I say I'm getting my Vitamin D each day.

So, I will be knitting.

Wednesday, June 21, 2006

Guess what I got in the mail! My Secret pal gift. Look at this box. Doubt it's a Cuisenart Toaster like the box says.

Look, a handmade knitting bag, although it looks like it was bought. She's a really good seamstress she is.

Look at all these goodies that were tucked in that bag. She made a needle holder, that holds circulars and double points and even maybe some strait needles. Oh, wait, there is a little holder for double points I think. There's also a cute holder for a pair of small scissors. There's a Thread Cutter Pendant, and something that may be a button, not sure. Oh yes, a skein of Mama-E's C*eye*ber Fiber Sock yarn, a superwash wool sock yarn. A pretty blue too. And a cute card too.

Here's a picture of the inside of the bag. Lots of pockets in there. It will be great for a project or two to take along. Will fit all the silly little tools we need to take with us.

Don't I have a great Secret Pal? She sure is a sweetie.

As for knitting, I'm still working on those fingerless gloves. Took hubby's car to get inspected and knit a few more rows on them. Need to take his car back for new back brakes tomorrow, so will take them to knit there again.

So, I've been knitting

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

Hi All,

Haven't posted for a bit. Thought I'd better, since with Secret Pal 8, we're supposed to post weekly.

Finally got the package ready to send to my Secret Pal. Need to go the post office soon and mail it. Also get my mail, as we can't have a mail box, since kids (or grandmas) knock it off the post. We're at the bottom of a long hill and I think they drive down the hill with a baseball bat out the window and swing as they go by. Such fun. They don't seem to bother the newspaper box, although they did knock if off once. We've lived here long enough we thought maybe when the generation grew up it would stop. But it seems like the next and next generations, do it too. LOL Not just ours but I've seen many damaged mail boxes, even one of those Rubbermaid ones, has got duct tape all over it holding it together.

Sorry for the rant, but it bugs me sometime to have to go to the post office daily.

Was knitting some fingerless gloves, but made too many mistakes, so just frogged both of them back. Will try again soon. Went to NY on Saturday, and took the baby blanket, and only managed to knit one row. Can't knit while riding in a car or I get carsick. Silly.

So, knit a little and frogged a lot.

Wednesday, May 24, 2006

See what my Secret Pal 8 sent me? What a great Surprise!
Thank you Secret Pal. Love the Mason Dixon book. I'm afraid
I all ready have the Socks That Soar book. But if my SecretPal
doesn't mind too much I will pass it on to my own Secret Pal.
At any rate, can't wait to make something in the Mason Dixon book.

Still knitting on the dish cloth for
my email friend. Forgot to take
that Picture when I did the
books. Such a nut.

So I've been knitting

Tuesday, May 23, 2006

Hi all,

Yes, I've been knitting, but haven't taken a picture of it yet. Will do so soon.

Making a dish cloth for an email friend, that I've been writing daily to for years. This is the first thing I've ever knitted for her. Her birthday just passed and I didn't send her anything. Hence the dish cloth.

Downloaded the pattern quite a while ago, and never made it. But written on is "Too Big". So yes, it does appear big, but then again it's a dish cloth, and the ones I have that are bought are about the same size. So it should be all right. Can't figure out how I wrote that on it since I'm sure I never knit it before.

Well, I have a Secret Pal, and a Secret Pal has me. We've all been emailing, but need to get some things together to send to my pal.

Somehow hurt my knee last knee last night. Hurts to walk. We walked around the house on the driveway, and twice is usually all right, but we walked 3 times and now it hurts. It had been getting better. Oh well.

So, I've been knitting.

Tuesday, May 16, 2006

Well, I knit a pair of fingerless gloves. They didn't look good laying on the table, so wouldn't you know, I had them on when hubby came in with my camera and took a picture. So, you get me, with my fingerless gloves on.

Still haven't figured out what to knit. Found some sock yarn that my son had given me one Christmas. It's Patons Kroy Socks yarn in Winter Eclipse color. Need to find a toe down pattern as I want to try it on as I knit, so I will know it fits. So, might do that, but we will see.

So, no knitting today

Monday, May 15, 2006

Hope you all had wonderful Mother's Day!

I was taken out to dinner and then we picked out a digital camera for me. It's cool. So in order for the screen on the back not get scratched I knitted a Camera Cozy for it. This is a fuzzy picture, got too close I guess. Sorry. Used some left over wool yarn that I used for my Mom's stocking hat. Didn't take long to knit.

Looking for something else to knit. Can't decide.

So I knitted.

Friday, May 12, 2006

Well, I think I'm finally getting the hang of pictures in my blog. My secret sister #8 told me how to do it. Thanks, secret sis.

Well, I'm getting these on my blog, but not sure how to get them arranged. I think I
should have chosen where to put them before saying ok. I'll try the next one.

I think I'll stop there as it is a little weird layout. The first one is the progress a while ago on the baby blanket I've been making. I'm a little farther than that now.

The next one is that cool red purse I made. Those are all I-cords on it, but I cheated and made them with one of those small red kiddie things. Because there were 30 or more of those to make. Haven't ever used the purse, but it's cute.

Next to the red purse is the blue scarf. That's nice wide heavy scarf and it was wonderful to wear with my coat this winter, wrapped around my neck to keep the cold out.

The last picture is the fuzzy scarf I made. I used a fuzzy yarn and strait yarn together to make it. Sorry, don't have knitting journal yet, and forgot the specifics.

Well, now that I've done some pictures, I will now start including them, maybe one at a time in my posts. It's easy, now the Secret Sis 8 gave me the head's up on how to do it.

I just knit a Wash cloth for my Mother for Mother's Day. Finally sent it today. Seems like every time I make something for my mother, it has mistakes in it. I had made her a stocking hat and that had mistakes in it too. I'm not a good frogger, and end up starting over, so I instead I just ignore mistakes. Silly me.

I also just finished a pair of fingerless gloves. They were knit with some bluish green cotton Sugar and Cream yarn. They were knit flat and then sewn leaving the hole for the thumb. I made them both at the same time on a circular needle, so I didn't have to do one, and then the other. They feel good on. It's interesting that the cast on for one is a bit tighter than the cast on for the other.

So, now I need to knit something else. Maybe the shawl that I had started and then frogged. We'll see.

So, I've been knitting.

Saturday, April 29, 2006

Hi All,

Sorry I haven't posted in so long. Silly me. Been trying to figure out how to get my pictures online, so I can put them in this blog. One of these days I'll figure it out, I suppose.

We took a trip on the 20th of April up to Palmyra, NY. We stayed in a hotel, and visited the Church sites of our Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We also got to go to the Temple a couple of times. It was a very nice trip. Trouble is, my left knee decided to give me some real trouble. Why did it pick that weekend? Who knows. Still it is not right. Might need to find a doctor I suppose. Anyway, we came home on Saturday the 22nd of April in quite a rain storm. It was nice to get home and sleep in my own bed.

On the knitting front, I'm still working on the baby blanket, even though my daughter in law lost the baby. I also am working on a pair of fingerless gloves. I'm knitting them with a bluish green cotton yarn, Sugar and Spice or something like that. These are quite simple, you just knit a rectangle as long as you want, but at lest 5 inches. And then seam them leaving room for your thumb. I'm knitting them at the same time on a circular needle for the space. Using a seperate yarn for each I cast them both on the needle. Other than occasionnally twisting the yarns, it's going pretty good.

So, I've been knitting.

Well, as for the baby blanket, I re-started with the same yarn with one size larger circlar needle. I'm not as far as I was before I frogged, but I'm getting there. Good thing I started early, as the baby isn't due until September in the middle.

Just downloaded that Moon Phase in my side bar. It looked cool on Nessie Noodles site, so went and got one for myself.

Had a 10:30 appointment this morning. I had written the 10:30 in my planner but not put what it was for, so I totally forgot. Around 20 after 10, the lady I was supposed to pick up, called to see where I was. I was still in my workout clothes, as I go to Curves in the morning. Looked at myself and I didn't look too bad, so said I would be there as soon as I could. Turned out we weren't too late. The reason I hadn't written what it was in my planner, was that after making the appointment, we talked about another one, for the day before. Never went back and finished today's entry. Oh well.

I seem to have trouble getting things I put in my planner on the wrong days. Don't pay enough attention I suppose. Was going through it, and noticed I had written a doctor appointment next month on Sunday instead of Monday. Silly me. At least the one I almost missed was on the right day, just didn't realize 10:30 meant something.

The weather is slowly warming up. It's in the 60's today, hurray! It appears it will cool to the 50's in a day or two. Hope that's as far cold as it will get. I'm ready for WARMTH.

So, I've been knitting.

So, been knitting that silly blanket, not getting very far yet.

Monday, March 20, 2006

Well, last night I took out my knitting of the baby blanket and decided I had to frog back, past that stitch hanging problem, and then decided to frog back past a dropped stitch that I had fixed that didn't look quite right. Anyway, It was so far back, that I'm just starting over again. Silly me. I'm even thinking I may look and see if I have different yarn to make it with. Not sure.

Very cold here and windy for the first day of Spring. Not fun! I'm ready for some warm weather.

Got the mail from the post office this afternoon. There was a lot of regular mail, several magazines, and 3 packages. Why is it that some days you get none, and others you get lots. Do they hold it back to give it all in one day? Weird. Anyway, got 2 knitting books, The Purl Stitch by Sally Melville, and Reader's Digest Knitting in No Time, by Melody Griffiths. There are several things in each book, that I might make someday.

Also got Body Clutter, and Body Clutter Journal from Flylady today. I've been losing weight, but can use all the help I can get. Got measured at Curves today, and lost 9 inches, and 3 and 3/4 lbs. Not bad I guess. So, will read the Body Clutter books and see if that helps.

So, I've been frogging.

Saturday, March 18, 2006

Well, I've been putting off posting, because I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of things. Guess that's not a good reason.

Went to a Jazz thing at a local restarant last night. The dinner was great, but too much jazz is too much for me. I could have left after the first set, but hubby likes it, and so we sat through another set. Finally got home after 10 PM.

Slept late this morning, felt good. Wrote a note to myself to iron today. I like cloth napkins and I iron them. Well, didn't do it. Like to listen to music while ironing and I took my boom box into the other room lately for doing yoga. Didn't feel like going to get it. Silly me.

Been knitting on the baby blanket. I had taken it when we went to a friend's house earlier in the week, and somehow there's a yarn bridge. Think I need to put in a block so not too many stitiches come out and back up to the yarn bridge and redo it. I suppose I wasn't paying much attention to my knitting when we were taling.

Well, the Quite Man is on tonight in a couple minutes.

So, I've been knitting.

Hi All,

I've been knitting on the baby blanket, knitting it corner to corner. Doing it on 36 inch circular needle, just back and forth. Need width for when I get the middle. Only needed the next size down, but 36" is what I had, so I used it. The pattern called for a size 15 needle, but I started with a 13, and after 10 rows or so, I didn't like it at all. Looked like a babies foot could get stuck in it. So, after thinking about it I tried the size 8, as I have several of those, and it's just right. The yellow and white held together make it look cool. I like it.

I've been hooked on Sudoko puzzles, but I cheat. Also crosswords, and I cheat there too. Silly me.

I go to Curves 4 or 5 times a week. Watching what I eat, and I am losing weight. Enjoy that it's all women and we have a good time while exercising.

So, I've been knitting.

Hi all,

Yesterday, we had rain, then snow, then rain again. Of course then it very cold last night and it froze. Luckily, my hubby had run the snow blower last night, even though we had just 1 1/2 inches of snow in that mix. Good thing as the sun today is melting what's left. Even though it's cold and windy.

Well, I decided since I added all those dumb stitches to my shall, I pulled it all out. Instead I got things ready to knit the baby blanket for my new grandbaby to be. Haven't cast on yet, been busy reading instead. Plan to do so by this weekend anyway. Yes, the baby is due in September, so have lots of time, but if I never start, it will never get finished. Silly me.

Didn't go out at all yesterday. I've had two ice accidents in past years, and the drive looked so icy. Today though I got brave, and got down it ok. Was able to do my grocery shopping and get the mail. Can't have a mail box, at the bottom of the driveway, as kids knock it off. So, we go to the post office 5 days a week to get the mail. Thought there would be more today, as I didn't go yesterday, but not really.

Looked at hubby's digital camera, but not brave enough yet, to take pics of my knitting with it. One of these days....

So, getting ready to knit.

Hi All,

Well, somehow I managed to add 28 stitches to my shawl. Wow, what a mess. So, I decided to frog the shawl all the way. Put it aside, and work on the blanket for my grandchild to be who will enter the world sometime in September. I'm going to knit a baby blanket with white and yellow yarns held together. The picture on the pattern looks basically white with a yellow cast. They don't want to know the sex of the baby, so need to keep gifts neutral. If I finish the blanket in good time, I will make a bonnet and booties too. I think I will get the yarn and needles for the blanket and put them together in a bag, (I use book bags I get for free from joining book clubs) so they will be ready to cast on tomorrow after church. Maybe I will frog the shawl tonight.

So, getting ready to knit.

Hi All,

Well, I finally knitted that row of the shawl that had stalled me. It wasn't as bad as I thought. So, today, while listening to an old podcast from Cast On, I knitted not only that row but the next one too. I have to say that I have arthritis in my left thumb and left knee. Connected? Not sure. Anyway, I can knit approximately 2 rows at a time, especially if they are long rows, and this shawl has 132 stitches per row. Then I break for a while to give my thumb a rest, and then can knit a couple more rows. A little silly, but works for me. It's interesting that we can dread something for a while, and then go back and look at it, and realize it's not that bad. That's what I did with that row 3 of the shawl pattern. Glad it's ok, since you repeat those 4 rows through the whole shawl.

Anyway, still down with the cold. I think I'm getting better, and tomorrow will be the 7th day, so colds only last a week, I hope anyway.

Well, my hubby is late tonight. He went to the local Family History Center to look for a birth certificate for a great grandfather so he can find his parents. Hope he's able to find something.

So, I've been knitting.

Hi all,

It appears I am still sick. Still not feeling good. Such fun. I took Zicam to see if it would make the cold shorter, and no it doesn't seem too.

No knitting, haven't felt like doing much except reading. Been re-reading the Mitford books. If you haven't read them, they are written by Jan Karon. You can get most of them in paperback. A very clean, nice set of books. About an Episcopal priest who lives in the small town of Mitford, North Carolina. It's hard to find a a good, clean novel without any sex, or cursing or anything like that. Look it up.

Here's hoping I feel better soon. Figure it should run itself out by Thursday, but I hope sooner.

So, no knitting, but I will.

Hi all,

No, haven't been knitting. Been sick with a cold. Not fun. Don't feel like doing anything. Been listening to podcasting. Interesting. There are several knitting podcasts which are quite good. Cast on, Knitter's News cast, and Knit cast. If anyone is interested I will post URL's for those. Email me at deborahp@ptd.net

I use Itunes to listen to the podcasts.

Was feeling better this morning, but this evening I'm stuffed up again. Guess it usually goes like that. Good first and bad later.

Looked at that next line of the shawl directions and it doesn't look so bad on second look, so as soon as I feel like doing some knitting, I will.

I am not doing the Olympic knitting. I'm in awe of the people who are doing it.

Well, maybe I'll read for a bit and then head to bed.

So, I will knit.

Hi all,

Well, I started the shawl. Did rows 1 and 2 and row 3 is more involoved, such as do this 3 times, then this 4 times, then this 3 times, etc. Anyway, haven't had the nerve to knit it yet. Silly me.

I'm taking a class online, it's called The Best Year of Your Life. So far it's interesting. It has us looking at things in the past and fixing them, which is a little wearing. Have to make a collage thing which I've been putting off a bit. Maybe I'll look through magazines while watching TV tonight.

Have started meditating. Been using meditation CD's, and after today, I've decided I prefer meditating without any Cd's.

I've noticed in the Blogs I read that many knitters are knitting during the olymics, to finish when the flame goes out. I'm not doing that.

Oh, just found out our youngest and his wife are having a baby. Hurray. That will make 5 grandchildren. Guess I better knit a blanket or something. It's due in September.

So, I've been knitting, and need to knit more.

Well, Gee.

Got a new computer and lost my blogger info. So, just found it again, so I'm back.

Let's see, knitting. I knitted a cool purse. Would like to show it. Need to take a picture of it, and see how to upload it. I'm still new at this blogger stuff. Actually made two purses. One is fulled, and the other has icords all over it and it's bright red. Haven't used either, but should.

Just now I'm starting a knitted shawl, made with Patons Canadiana Colours, and the color is Plum or Prune. It's a cool multicolor yarn that is real pretty. Should make a very nice shawl. The pattern I got off of Lion Brand website and it called for a microfiber yarn. Well, didn't like the colors of Lions microfiber. So I just happened to look in my stash and found 6 skeins of this Patons yarn, which is acryilic so should work fine. It has 20 stiches to 4 inches where the pattern called for 22 stitches per 4 inches, but I don't think it'll matter for a shawl.

Anyway, I'm going to watch The 5th Element on TV tonight. I like that movie.

So, I've been knitting.
