Hi All,

We just got back from Las Vegas and Southern Utah where we went for vacation.

One of the places we went was Zion National Park. Here's some photos of the
Park.

This first one, the points are called something like Nephi, and Moroni. Probably naming them wrong, but those names were on some peak or other.

This one I really liked. It was called Angel's Footstool, I think that's right. Took several pictures of it, but this was the best.

I forgot, we first went to Hoover Dam, sometimes called Boulder Dam.
Had to take two pictures to get it all in.

This is a statue of a guy that may have been working on the dam. It looked
really cool.

We took the tour of the dam inner workings. It was interesting. Over 100 men
died while working on the dam. Some from heat exposure. It was really hot.
They were also building it during the depression, which was quite a feat.

We also went to Las Vegas, but forgot to take any pictures there. Silly me.

So, I've been knitting, one of these days I'll take a picture of that.
Saturday Sky

It rained all night, so it's not a good sky. Just gray and not nice.

So, next post for knitting.

Hi all,

Very cold here in PA. Frost on the ground when I got up. Brrr.

Well here is my Saturday Sky picture.

Took it off the kitchen balcony in my shirt sleeves and about froze. Came in
and put a sweater on after taking the picture. When I took the sweater off
the door knob in here, I found the Booga Bag I knitted in 100% wool and
shrunk, quite a while ago. Maybe I'll use it for church tomorrow. Put a
few things from my purse in there, and finally use it for a change. It's got shoulder handles, so it should work good.

Wll, I have cast on half the stitches I need for this silly hat. Not sure
I'll get it done for Wednesday. But I'll try. I know, some of you, can knit
a hat in a day, but not me. I'm slow.

SoI've been casting on.

Hi all,

My Chocolate pal sent me this box of goodies. Sorry Jennifer, for taking
so long to post, as my computer died and it took a while for hubby to get it running
again, and then I had to reinstall everything. Such fun.

Anyway, she sent me this good box of Chocolate things. Well, the Choclate was, notice was, Milky Way Midnights in bite size, a bag of Dark Chocolate Linder Truffles(yummy), a fancy chocolate bar, tootie rolls (didn't eat as they pull off my filings), a dark chocolate Hot chocolate mix (which I couldn't have as it has coffie in it. Also a cook book of Chocolate things.

Then on to other things. A pattern for a Sofie Bag. Also yarn to make it.
Yummy yarn!

A Chocolate hand dyed skein of 100% wool. She dyed it and I think she spun it too. Also a skein of Plymouth Yarn, Baby Alpaca Brush, in a dark chocolate color. Jennifer suggested that I make the Sofie bag or something similar with her hand dyed yarn, and maybe something like fingerless gloves with the yummy Baby Alpaca.

They will both have to wait I suppose as I'm working on a hat, and just had to frog it as I wound the circular around my head and it's much too big. So need to cast on fewer stitches. Want to finish before Wednesday, when I teach the hat to a group of women, but I'm a slow knitter.

Oh, forgot something else she gave me.

Jennifer made these wonderful beaded stitch markers. Aren't they great?

If you like Jen's hand dyed yarn and stitch markers, her name is Jennifer Church. I'm sorry I lost her email and web site when the computer crashed. If she emails me I will post it for you.

So, I've been knitting, frogging, knitting.

Saturday Sky

Sky doesn't look too great. Clouding over. If you look towards the bottom, you will see some autumn tree colors. Just a little.

Let's see, I learned to dye yarn at my knitting guild this week. It's very pretty.
Forgot to take a pic, will do so later. This week, we had lightening, a very close strike, and it took out the cable modem, and my Ethernet card. Didn't touch anything else I think. So when the Cable guy came to replace the cable modem, he plugged something into USB slot on the front of the computer. So hubby said, I could probably unplug it. I all ready have the extra printer in one of the slots and this takes up the other. But it's the one I use to plug in my camera or MP3 player. So, took it out and rebooted. It said there was an Internet problem. So evidently that takes the place of my fried Ethernet card. Such fun. So when I want to use my camera, to say, put in my Saturday Sky picture, I unplug the Internet, and put in my camera pictures. Then I put it back in so I can get on the Internet to put it my blog. We'll have to move it to a back USB spot. Hope there's enough wire to do that.

Since the computer is under the desk and it's messy with wires under there, it's a real pain. Maybe I'll try later, unless I can get hubby to do it. We'll see.

Anyway, I started to knit a hat for this class I will teach. It starts on the 18th. Was hoping to show it tomorrow, but only have two rows so far. Better get busy. Guess I can show it next Sunday.

So, I've been knitting.

Hi,

I totally forgot the Saturday Sky this week. Silly me. Will put next Saturday Sky in my planner so I won't forget.

So, I've been knitting. Here is the Ball Band Dish Cloth, that I've been working on for weeks. Or not working on for weeks. Didn't knit for almost a month. Any way, I took it out the other day, and finished it.

Can you see how it sort of leans to the right? I Think that happened when I deleted a stitch on one side, and added it on the other. Who knows? I left it though as it is a dish cloth. What does it matter?

I've now just cast on for a hat. I'm going to use this hat, in teaching a class of women how to knit and we'll knit the hat. Small enough project that they won't have to knit forever. So, will need to get the demo hat knit pretty quick. I think they are planning the first class on the 12th. We'll see. The hat pattern is from Knitting Rules, by Stephanie Pearl Mcphee.

Well, Pennsylvania is in the news lately. That Amish School killings topping the list. Also a well known Country Junction store out 209 towards Lehighton burned down this morning. Many of us local people have been there many times. The place was huge, and evidently it all burned down. Odd. Luckily it burned early this morning before people showed up. Haven't heard yet what the cause was.

So, I've been knitting.

This is the knitting survey that Secret Pal 9 wanted done.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I like 100% wool, as I like to felt. Don't like those novelty yarns, fuzzy etc.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

Don't have anything to store strait needles in. I use a basket, but it's always a problem to find the right pair.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

Let's see, I've been knitting for about 6 years. I'm thinking I'm intermediate in knitting. Let's see I learned by reading a book years ago, and made a baby blanket, with cables that came out the size of a doll blanket. Didn't know about gauge. Never knitted again till 6 years ago, I found a how to knit class online, as I needed to learn about gauge. Was suprised that gauge was the 6 th class.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

No, afraid not. But gee I wish for a ball winder and the thing to hold the skein.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)

Vanilla

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Yes I have sweet tooth, but am on a diet and can't eat it at the moment.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

No, don't spin. Love to read so much, that I don't get my knitting done sometimes.

Love Country Music. Yes, computer can MP3's and I have an MP3 player. (Not ipod)

Absolutely like BLues. Do wear a nice green, but greens are hard to get the one i like. Also like Mauve. No oranges or flourescent colors.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

Married, no pets since our poodles died a few years ago. Children all grown and out of the house.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

YES to scarves, hats and mittens. No ponchos please.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Wash Cloths. Can I help it? Mindless knitting I can do anywhere. Am making a hat, to teach in a knitting class at church. Want to knit socks but just haven't gotten there yet. Have made scarves, fingerless gloves, that sort of thing. Want to make a sweater, have a neat pattern my last pal gave me, but need to get the yarn one of these days. Actually I'm on a diet and hope to wait a while to get the yarn, as I might need a smaller size next year.

13. What are you knitting right now?

That hat I'm making. Figured I want to have it by the 8th when I will show what we will be doing after I teach them to knit. I'm not a fast knitter.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

YES, who doesn't.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Not plastic. I use circular more than strait, but use both.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

No, that's what I really wish for. Couldn't think of the name Swift up above.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

About 6 months.

Christmas I suppose.

19. Is there anything that you collect?

What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

None at the moment.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Lace knitting maybe?

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Not a sock knitter yet. Want to be. I wear a woman's size 11. Big feet.

23. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)

02/25
