It's been a long time since I blogged. Sorry about that.
But I have been knitting. I have been working on this
Shawl, from Mason Dixon Knitting. It's called the Nina
Shawl. The one that they give directions for, is pink
and black. On the next page they give two other groups
of colors. When I went to my Lys, she didn't have the
type of cotton needed. So we found some yarn that would
work, and played with colors until I found these. I
didn't realize at the time that it is red, white and blue.

The other thing I am knitting is a Stacked iCord Cowl.
You can see the pile of iCords on the left. I am
working on number 5 with 2 more to go I think. The
pattern is from VK Live Magazine. It is a 6-stitch
iCord.

Besides knitting I've been reading books on my Kindle.
The book at the moment is called "A Kiss of Adventure."
Sorry I don't remember the author, they only give
it at the beginning of the book.

I am also at times, reading the 2nd "Thirst" book.
I noticed at K-Mart that there is a 3rd 'Thirst'
book but will wait till I finally finish the
2nd one.

I mostly read my Kindle, but between books I
sometimes pick up the Thirst book.

So, we've been having several very nice days.
We know it's not going to stay warm. One
morning several days ago it was 36 degrees.
Today it was 80.

Well, I want to go read.

I got up late at 9:30. Hubby was snoring after we went to bed at Midnight. So I moved to the couch in the living room. Went back into the bedroom around 3 AM and he was still snoring, which is unusual. I didn't want to go back to couch, so just sort of tuned him out, and finally managed to sleep. That's why I got up so late.

We went to see Avatar 3D today. That was interesting and the movie was good. We both liked it. Then he took me out to eat at a Chicken place. Then to Loews, to pick up sealant for the Shower stall that might be delivered Monday. If they had known that we had paid for the delivery, it would have come today, but maybe Monday. We did notice while there that they had two of each of the shower stall pieces, so not reason not be delivered.

Nice to be home. Got some wash in, and really need to move it to the dryer.

Well, today I missed a dentist appointment. They called to tell me I missed it, and this time I got a warning but if I miss one again it will cost me $30. So, I need to get better at not missing appointments. Set a timer or something. My new appointment isn't till the end of March.

I spent the late morning looking at knitting books, to see what I might want to knit this year. I came up with 11 things so far. More books to go through. I'll let you know once I pick something to go first.

I gave up the diet I was trying after 1 week on it. It was too repetitive. Then while looking at the knitting books, I saw a Geneen Roth book. Later, when I decided to get out the Geneen Roth book, I found 4 or maybe 5. She says, to stop dieting, and eat what you want. I think I've found the thing I will make a new blog about.

So, keep your eyes open for a new URL.

Well, I haven't decided what I want to make a new blog
about, so I am back here.

No knitting to speak of. I did order size 1 double points,
but haven't gotten them yet. Figure a few more days for
them.

Been trying to think of what I knit next if I can't make
the monkey. No ideas yet.

I'm reading Julie and Julia, the book now, on my Kindle.
I'm thinking this was written after the movie, but maybe
not as there are things that aren't in the movie.
Hubby gave me the DVD for Christmas.

I was looking through the few cookbooks I have left hanging
in the closet, looking through them to see I wanted to cook
them front to back, and no way. Ones a Mexican cookbook that
my hubby has. I looked at it, and no way. One is Gluten Free
Cookbook, but that isn't quite the thing either. Betty Crocker
has Gluten Free cakes, Brownies and cookies. Just made the
chocolate gluten free cake with cream cheese icing. Just the
bought kind. Hubby needs to eat gluten free but most of the time.
But many of my meatless things I make, are OK for him.

Hello all,

I know I haven't blogged since April. Sorry about that.
I'm not knitting much, so not so sure I should keep this
up. I might start a new blog soon, about something else.
If I do, I will put the new URL in here.

I've lost about 63 pounds at Weight Watchers this past
year or so. Still working to lose more, but having a
bit a trouble since the year hit in July. Going up and
down, and up and down. I just ordered and downloaded
the books for the Every Other Day Diet or EODD. I might start
a blog, about that. We'll see. I start that on Monday
the 11th.

I did knit a baby blanket for the new baby my son and wife
are having. I forgot to take a picture even though I
thought about it. It was knit with 2 colors of yarn
which kept changing, so there were some ends to get
in. They have gotten it. We're waiting to hear
when the baby is born.

Hello All,

I know I haven't blogged for a while, but I will try to do better.

This is my new purse I got online at eBags.com I love it, it's big
and holds a lot. It has a zipper pocket and two open pockets for
cell phone and/or iPod, or whatever. I also have one of those things
that has a lot of pockets that you can take from purse to purse. I
have my digital Camera in there, and extra keys, pens and pencils, etc.
that move with it. Only the wallet that goes in the middle. Anyway
I think it's pretty too. Maybe you do too?

Not much knitting going on. I was doing a row on my sweater when
I noticed that the cable had come apart not with the metal end,
just the cable out of the bottom of the metal piece. (Options)
It must be the one I got the new cable for but couldn't find it
again. Well, I had to pick up the dropped stitches with the cable
end which isn't sharp or anything. When I got them picked up, I
noticed a loose loop hanging down. Don't know how to fix it, so
once I get the new cable on there somehow, I will take the row out
and try it again. When I have a few inches again, I will take a
picture.

Hello all,

Rain! Yes we needed it but boy it came down around noon
today. I was driving home from the dentist and it was
coming down so hard, my wipers were on as high as they
could go and the rain was still overcoming them. We
drove relatively slowly due to all the water coming
down. The whole way home and a while after getting
home it came down like blazes. Later, when I went
out to the post office it was just raining normally.
Oh, I couldn't eat lunch till late due to a numbed
mouth. Isn't that the way. Luckily the next appt.
next month is after lunch.

It also decided to rain last night as I was coming
home from my Knitting Guild meeting in Whitehall,
about a 45 min. drive. Towards home it stopped
for a while, but then as I was coming down our
road it started up again. I was glad I was able
to pull into the garage.

The last time I saw rain come down like it did
around noon, was when we lived in Florida. I
can remember it was raining so hard on a major
road I was on, that I pulled over to the side
of the road until it slowed down. Down there
it rained every day around 5 PM. My kids loved
jumping in the puddles when it was done.

So, I've been reading the Kindle and the book
I got about walking 10,000 steps each day.
I got my pedometer this week on Tuesday, so
the first week, we are supposed to use as a
baseline once we add it together and divide
by 7. Then we can work on getting above
our baseline. So Wednesday I did 5786 steps
and yesterday, Thursday, I did 7829. So far
today, I've done 5311, but I'm not done the
day yet. Maybe I should walk around the house
outside before I watch TV.

So, I knitted at my Guild, starting a sweater.

Hi all,

I'm trying to blog Mon. Wed. Fri, but last night when I went to
blog, I looked at the clock and I needed to get to bed instead.
That's why I'm blogging today.

These are pictures of my knitting. The first is a knitted
washcloth I knitted a while ago. It's been used once and then
washed. There's another red one that's being used today, so
didn't take a picture of that.

This washcolth is one I'm making now. It's my waiting washcloth, that I
knit on when waiting somewhere. I started it while waiting at the mammogram
place, and worked on it for a while at my Knitting group.

After knitting on the washcloth for a bit, I picked up the bulky yarn
and started knitting first a gauge swatch, and then cast on 33 stitches
for a Kindle bag. I measured around the Kindle and it was 11 1/2" around,
so I cast on for 11 inches, figuring it stretches a bit. I also knitted
on it once during the couple days since Thursday. I figure I take the
Kindle places and a knitted bag would protect it somewhat.

My Thursday was crazy for me. First Knitting from 10 - 11:30, Then went to
A.C. Moore to look for paint brushes. Then went home, ate a quick lunch,
brushed my teeth and went for a dental cleaning. Showed the Kindle to them
and they had never heard of one. I went home, this time for 2 hours, before
eating some dinner and leaving at 5:30 for a painting class back in Stroudsburg.
I usually space those things out, but somehow they all landed on the same day.

Turned out I didn't like the watercolor painting or the teacher much. So no
more of that any more.

I got a flyer from my LYS and Annie Modiesitt is coming in April to my LYS.
I want to sign up for one her classes. It's pretty cool she's coming to
East Stroudsburg, PA., to Mountain Knits and Purls, actually in East
Stroudsburg. She's teaching a Jewelry Demo, on May 27th and Combination
Knitting on May 28th. She's also doing a book signing of any of her books
on the 27th. You need to sign up for them at Mountain Knits and Purls
before the class if you are anywhere near it. I'm looking at the flyer
and there is another class of hers on the 28th in the afternoon, called
Annie's Embellishments. Le's see, on the 27th the class is from 7 to 9 PM.
On the 28th, the first is from 11 - 2 PM and 3 - 6 PM.

So, I've been knitting.

Hello All,

This is my middle of losing weight photo. I am 67 pounds less
than I was. Obviously, I still have more to go. Altogether
I want to lose 130 pounds.

I still have to search a CD I put photos on for a before picture.
So, haven't done that yet. Knew I wanted to post today.

Today I went for my annual Mammogram. Have to drive down about 45
minutes to get to the place, but it is much more comfortable than
where I used to get them. It was funny, the lady saw me reading my
Kindle when she came to get me. She sat me on the chair in the room,
and asked me about the Kindle, and could she hold it. She says, she
reads a lot, and she has a friend that has a Sony reader who doesn't
like it, so she was interested if I liked the Kindle which I do, very
much. All through the Mammogram, she asked me questions about it.
I think she will order one.

After I left there, I stopped and did some shopping at Wallmart. I'm
starting a painting class tomorrow, and we were supposed to get a pack
of brushes. I couldn't find the pack she suggested, but got one of
25 brushes for any type painting. Hope they are OK.

Well, it's getting close to 8 PM and I want to watch Ghost Hunters.
Can I help it, I like it.

So, yes, I knitted on the washcloth I'm making while I waited out in
the main waiting room. I need to knit a case for my Kindle, think I'll
use a bulky wool yarn that I have.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't taken any pictures yet, sorry.

I've been reading my Amazon Kindle. I got it recently
and love reading books on it. All the Kindle books
are basically $9.99 or less or even free. Any of you
that read my blog have a Kindle? Mine's a Kindle2.

I'm still working on the kitchen cabinets. Only still
have the 3 left that are tricky to do. I was supposed
to do the one under the sink. I still will try to, after
dinner maybe. At least the other two are high rather than
so low. Figured I should get the hardest done first.

I'm going to go to my first painting class on Thursday night.
I need to buy some brushes, and a canvas or something. I'm
not sure what type painting it is. I thought water color,
but not sure. There was no paint on the paper we got telling
us about brushes and canvas.

Going to make a recipe for Flounder tonight. Although time
is flying.

So, no knitting this time either.

Hello Blog land,

It's been quite a while since I last blogged. I now have a goal set to blog every other day except Sunday. Thought I would start that way. No pictures today, but will get better at that also, maybe on the day I don't blog.

I've been losing weight with Weight Watchers. About 65 pounds lost since the end of July 08. Still have many more to lose though. I'll try to get hubby to take a picture and will post a before and during.

I'm doing some organizing. I have a couple organizing things, one a book 'One Year to get getting organized." I really like the book. I'm also taking a class online called the "Extreme Home Makeover" at Brook Noel's site, http://www.brooknoel.com

Oh, I'm enjoying the Amazon Kindle 2 that I got a few weeks ago. I love it. I've downloaded many books, some I've finished, the one organizing book is on it also, and I have a knitting book, and a bunch of other books on it. I take with me when I have to wait, although I do sometimes knit when waiting.

I've only knitted washcloths lately, so haven't taken pictures of them yet. One is in use, and the other I am still working on when I wait.

I'm thinking of starting that blue cardigan sweater I was going to knit before I started losing weight. I'm thinking now I can pick a smaller size easier, as it will take quite a while for me to knit anyway. I am a slow knitter, especially since I got the Kindle. Hubby frowns at me when I take my knitting to church. Oh well, now he leads the music and has to sit up on the stand. So, maybe I could knit, we'll see. I let you know if I manage it.

A friend asked me what Lifeform was. It's a software program I got years
ago, and it keeps track, if you want, of all you eat and figures out your recipe's too by giving the nutrition info, so I can figure out my points for Weight Watchers. I've been trying to buy cooking magazines and books with Nutrition info in them. Anyway, they do charge for Lifeform, it's at http://lifeform.com It also keeps track of your weight and a bunch of other things. It used to come on 3 1/2" disks, so when I got a new computer it had (Oh dear, senior moment) anyway that new operating system that Microsoft has. Name is not coming to me, sorry, I had to download Lifeform for it, and silly me forgot to tell them I had it all ready, so had to pay for it again. It's not expensive, something like $20 or so.

So, haven't knitted lately.

Brr Then Warm

When we got up today, it was COLD. Hubby said he took his
car to the you wash it place and after he put the soap on
the car, it froze. I guess he finally got the soap off and
finished washing it. I think he went too early to do it, as
by noon it was 49 or something like that. Very warmish. We're
hoping that the next few days of warmer temps like that, might
clear up the rest of the ice on the driveway. Of course it
might snow after that. Seems like every time the driveway
finally gets clear of ice or snow, it does it again. So, we
will see.

Well, for a Saturday, I got up early at 8 AM. I ate breakfast,
did my exercise, showered and washed my hair, then read my
scriptures and got ready to go. I took a class at my nearest
LYS for making an Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitting Almanac,
baby sweater. Not the Surprise Jacket, but another
one she has in her Almanac. There were 5 of us in the class.
We had gotten our yarns when we signed up for the class, and
had to do our gauge squares to get 5 stitches an inch. I
got some Merino yarn, in a pretty green color. Sorry forgot
to take that picture, but then again, you can see it below
in the picture of how far I got.

We need to knit until it comes time to put the sleeves onto
the needles. We're knitting top down for this. What you
saw in the picture was the yoke of the sweater.

This is the washcloth I started in a doctor's office. I had
left it in the middle of the row, so picked it up at home
(before the class today) and knitted some on it. I like
bright colors on my washcloths. I have some I knit of
whitish colors and don't like them as much.

After the class which was from 10 - Noon, I bought some yarn,
and yes forgot to take a picture of that. It's Cascade 220
in a gorgeous blue. If I remember, I will post a picture
of it tomorrow.

Then I went to the mall in Stroudsburg. First I ate
lunch at Burger King. I just looked at their online
site, and found the nutrition stuff for it, not good.
A Junior Whopper was 9 Weight Watcher points. I didn't
eat but half of the fries, so that wasn't bad, and the
Reg. Coke, I only drank half of it. So it was about
12 points for lunch. By the way, I've lost 61 pounds
with Weight Watchers so far.

Anyway, then I went into the mall and walked around.
There was something doing with Boy Scouts down near
Penney's. Lots of people watching. Maybe their boys
were there. I finally went into Bed and Bath shop and
found a shower back brush. I've wanted one for ages,
and got two other items that didn't work as well. Can't
wait to try this one tomorrow. Yes, no picture as well.

I made Spaghetti for dinner. I was going to make something
else but I forgot to get fresh mushrooms, so that will have
to wait till Monday. But hubby wanted Spaghetti, so that
is what I made. We also had a plate of baby carrots with
it.

So, I've been knitting.

Hi All,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Today I've been re-learning ribbing
stitch. I always seem to do ribbing when busy looking or doing
something else. Then I screw it up. Such fun. I took a Magic
Loop class. I had so much trouble with the needle kinking and
making mistakes, that when I was doing the ribbing finally, I
screwed it up somewhat. I didn't care that much, and kept knitting,
but the second class she made me take it out. Told me if I had
that much trouble, I should just knit a roll up hat plain.

I'm wasn't ready to do that, but did that in the class to make
the teacher happy. So, today, I got some yarn I don't use for
anything else in a light color, and tried it. Think I've got it
down now, knit the purls and purl the knits. Yes, I've been knitting
for 12 or 13 years and should know that. Call it a Senior moment.

So, I think when I retry the hat yet again, I will do it on two
circular needles like I'm used to, and follow her pattern and
make the hat. If I have to do it without looking at TV or listening
to iPod, I will.

I suppose I'm not the most careful knitter.

Snowy Trees

Just as it was getting light I looked out my dining
room window, and saw these trees just touched by
snow and had to take the picture. I think they
are just pretty.

I knitted 3 rows of the hat. It's 108 stitches so takes
a while, yesterday, need to another row or two to get
enough done before the next couple rows.

A couple boys came over today to sled. One called
first and asked. I told them sure. A relative
dropped them off as our driveway was snowy. They
must have sled for about 2 hours. I lent them a
sled we had, as the two of them had only 1 sled.

That was my excitement for the day I suppose.

I downloaded Lifeform today, as I only have it
on 3 in disks and my new computer only has a
CD/DVD drive. So I had to pay for it. Maybe
I should have told Lifeform place that I had
it on disks, but couldn't use it. Oh well.
It was just $29.

Hello all,

Even though I don't have a Saturday Sky, I figured
I could still blog.

I think I have finally figured out ribbing. Here
I've been knitting for 12 years or so, you think
I would have found out before, silly me. Maybe
I did find out once, but then forgot, who knows.
Knit the knits and purl the purls. Maybe some
of the problem was I wasn't sure which stitch was
which. Maybe it's because I'm old, or something.

I made Zucchini Lasagna for dinner,(new recipe.)
Not the best tasting Lasagna even if it was only
5 Weight Watcher points for 1 piece. I assume
a meat lasagna would be more points? I'll have
to check. There is a lot of Zucchini Lasagna
left though and we should eat it, especially
before it goes bad, whenever that would happen.
It was only 2 levels, isn't a regular Lasagna
3 levels I think. I guess it's been a long time
since I made lasagna as it's a lot of fussy
steps. I used to make it a long while ago, and
I remember we used to use Sweet Italian Sausage
instead of hamburger. I might have to make one
like that again and just leave enough points for
dinner, how ever points that is.

Weight Watchers works! I am determined to lose
all the weight and keep it off. I have to lose
about 120 pounds. I've lost 57 so far. All ready
went down 2 sizes of pants. Ordered more underwear
also. Not too much, as it still is a ways to go.
One of the great things about Weight Watchers
is that you eat anything you want, just count
the points. At this point I get 26 points a
day. There is also every week, 35 weekly pts.
that you can use however you want. If you don't
use the weekly points, you lose weight faster.
I tend to use maybe 10 weekly points during a
week. But I lose 2-3 pounds every week, anyway.

Don't ask me when I started Weight Watchers.
I think it might have been October but not sure.
Oh, I had my 08 planner out for something else and
looked and it appears I joined on 22 July 08, So
I was wrong about October. In all that time I've
only missed 3 meetings. 1.sick 2. on vacation,
3. Icy driveway and I won't drive on it when it's
icy. Had an ice accident twice, once on the drive
way. So, ice I stay home.

I was charging my Palm Pilot before dinner.
When I started cooking, I put it up off the
counter onto some boxes. I was in the middle
of putting sauce on the lasagna when the
Palm slid off the box into the lasagna sauce.
Luckily it's in a case and only a tad got on
the actually Palm. Most was on the button tab
that got that sauce. Also the tab and the bottom
of the holder are leather or fake leather. Any-
way, it's easy to clean. only a tad got on the
bottom of the case which is a fabric of some sort.

I've been knitting on the hat with the Magic
Loop thing. I finished the ribbing, and next
is knit for 3 rows or 1 in and 1/8 long.
The pattern we were given, as I got it in a magic
loop class, is doing a checkerboard effect
at one point. So lots of different stitches
in this silly hat. It is wool, which will
be warmer than the acrylic hat I made which I
wear now. I've had the hardest time with the
Addi Turbo needle I got. It's not like the
others I have. The cable is awful. I've
taken off the stitches trying to get the cable
to relax twice. I finally got it somewhat relaxed,
although the magic loop workings make it not
relaxed somewhat. I need to figure out how to
put in a safety line. Wonder if Knitting
Help has a video on that. Otherwise when
I make a mistake, I have to do take it all
out. Oh, one of the times when I was trying
it again, I somehow got the yarn stuck between
stitches somehow. Got it stuck so tight
I couldn't knit it anymore. When I tried
to unravel it, I couldn't even do that it
was so tight. So I cut it off the yarn,
and tossed it. Being very careful this time
so that doesn't happen again. I watched a
couple magic loop videos and figured out
what I what I did.

So, I've been knitting, frogging, knitting
frogging, knitting, etc.

Saturday Sky and New Years trip

I took this picture around 5 tonight or maybe a tad earlier.
As you can tell from the trees, it is snowing.

Ok, the rest of these pictures are in no special order, I
goofed when putting them in, and I tried moving a couple
and then it's too hard to figure where they go. Anyway,
this is the lighthouse on the outer banks of North Carolina,
in Hatteras. It was the nicest one. You couldn't go in it
but just take pictures of it outside. There was a museum
to the side of it, maybe in the lighthouse guide's old house.

This happens to be a picture on the very long bridge tunnel,
well really the seagulls on the bridge. We took that bridge
both going and coming home. I think this picture is from
the trip home. I think it's cool that I got one taking off.
They were all sitting there on the fence, when I was getting
ready to take the picture and just as I snapped it, the middle
one started to take off.

Now this picture is on the outerbanks near the house we rented with
our youngest, his wife and baby. This is Ben and my husband trying
to fly a kite. It wasn't real windy that day, and you had to get the
kite up really high so it get the wind up there. (sorry I didn't get
any pictures of the kite. Later in the week, it got extremely windy
and cold. Ben and his wife tried to get it up later
on the very windy day, and don't think they had any luck.

I took this picture of this lighthouse. It was on the way home,
we stopped to see it. Can't tell you where exactly it was, but
somewhat north of where we stayed. It's just a plain one, we liked
the Hatterus one the best. We saw another one farther out on the
way home, it had the stripes squarely around, so a little different
than the lower ones, but didn't stop for pictures. We wanted to get
to hubby's sister and brother-in-law house.

Ok, this is back near the house we rented, it's Ben and his wife
flying the kite. You can see the handle in his hands. The kite
is way up there, and not in the picture.

These last two pictures are of Wynnie, our granddaughter. This
one is a closeup, or as close as I could get without disturbing
her.

Here she was digging in the sand or something. Couldn't quite tell.
She's about 1 yr 9 months old. Her birthday I think is in March.

Well, I didn't take any pictures of the hat I'm making. I worked
on it a lot on vacation, then ran out of yarn while doing the
decreases near the top. I'll try to remember to take a picture
of the finished hat when I get it finished. Need to do it.

I also took the first class of two, about making a hat
on one 40" circular needle. I bought the needle that
night as I didn't have a size 8 40" circular. It was quite
tightly curled and didn't want to behave. So, I did a couple
rows, figured out that from the teachers instruction and then
left early, as I knew how to do it, and I needed to soak that
needle in hot water for a while. I won't cast on again until
the hat is finished. The next class is in 2 weeks.

So, I've been on vacation, and did some knitting.

Saturday Sky etc.

Took this photo today around 12:30 PM or so. It
snowed like crazy yesterday, and we got about 7
inches. Hubby couldn't get his car up when he got
home yesterday and had to walk up the hill. He
then ran the snow blower on the up and down part,
and was able to get his car up higher, where others
couldn't see it as well. He was afraid someone would
bother it if it was down low. Today, he ran the snow
blower all around so he was able to get his car into
the garage. When you come of out the garage, you
drive a 10th of a mile around the house and to get
down to the bottom, The driveway circles the house.

This is the hat I am making for a friend at Curves.
It appears I have messed up the 2x2 ribbing and need
to redo it. I've been knitting it while watching TV
and most have goofed a couple times. Since it's for
someone else, I should take it out and start again with-
out the TV on.

I've been sick also, which probably didn't help any. I
am on day 4 of a cold. Hope it's done in 7 days.
Don't plan on going to church. There's another snow
storm coming so it might be canceled anyway, but if not
I'm not going. Couldn't sing with the choir at the moment
either. Yes, we are traveling the next two Sunday's, so
such is life. At least I took the gifts for my friend's
last week, so that's done.

We're leaving the day after Christmas. Such fun.
Going to spend some time with youngest son Ben and
family down in North Carolina. I think we'll be
stopping half way and get a hotel. It's a 12 hour
trip and we're old.

Got a package from my parents today. Hubby went to
the post office since I've been sick. They always
send lots of little gifts. I sent them an order
from Figi's.

Well, no pictures. I think I will have to stop using the
Wordless Wednesday pictures, as I have trouble finding good
shots to put here.

My son hasn't sent the picture of Wynnie's hat yet. Oh well,
maybe after Christmas. We will see them over New Years as
we are going to North Carolina out on the coast for a week with
son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter. If they bring the
hat there, I can take the picture.

I think all the presents for hubby have come and are wrapped
and put away. Poor guy has his birthday 4 days before Christmas,
so he probably gets a Christmas present wrapped in birthday
paper. I remember one year when I forgot and gave him his
birthday present wrapped in Christmas paper. I did do one
thing, I got him a 2 volume set of books and am giving him
the first one at birthday, and either the first one again
at Christmas or the 2nd one, I haven't quite decided yet.
Evidently his sister did that to him one year, giving him
the left boot for his birthday, and the left boot again for
Christmas. Later she gave him the other. So, we will see.

Ice!! The driveway is full of ice. Hubby waited an extra
hour and a quarter before he left for work. He called and
said the streets are ok. But I've had an accident on the
driveway ice before, so not going anywhere until it gets
better. I called the leader at Curves telling her I was
iced in. She didn't blame me. By the way, our driveway
is a tenth of a mile with half of it down a big hill.
Trouble is we live halfway up the hill, oh well.

I got out last night when it was snowing and it wasn't
too bad, but drove at 30 miles an hour going to Weight
Watchers. I lost 2.2 pounds this week, which makes
48 pounds lost. I do have a four wheel drive but
it runs like a front wheel drive until it needs it.
Doesn't help on the down part of the driveway at all.
I do have anti-lock brakes, but even they don't work
on ice very well. Last night the driveway was just
covered with dry snow, so not too bad going down. It
always gets up which is nice anyway.

The one time I had an accident on the drive, I hit some
black ice and hit a tree. No fun.

Luckily I got the mail from the post office yesterday,
so it won't hurt if I don't get there today.

I might ride my exercise bike but we did have to move
it to put the tree up, so not sure it would be good
to ride it where it is. We'll see.

Guess I should put more decorations on the tree. Hubby
had left the lights on our fake tree, so that is done
anyway. I put a few decorations on yesterday. I don't
know, it was more fun when the kids were home.

I haven't cast on again yet for that hat for my Curves
leader. Need to do that. Plan to take it on our trip
and knit on the way there and when there is time during
the week. I'll take something else to knit also as hat's
don't take too long (usually).

Saturday Sky

It is very cold, like 20's but very sunny today. After the
ice last night, it's nice to have sun to dry up the wet
places. Took this picture around 2:00, but from inside.
Sorry, but it's just too cold to stick my nose outside at
the moment.

Wouldn't you know I sent the baby's hat to her, and forgot
to take a picture of it. I will email my son and get him
to take a picture of it, maybe on the kid. It turned out
very cute, she can turn up the bottom if it's a tad too big,
or not. I have to email washing instructions as this Mission
Falls 1824 Wool, is a little fussy. Wash in the machine in cool
water by itself and dry in dryer but take it out before dry, and shape
it. That's a little fussy for a couple with a little one.
But maybe it won't need washing too often, right she's a one year
old? Hope the hat fits, it should.

I'm starting another hat, for a friend. Just made the gauge
square. It's going to look very similar to the hat I made for
myself. She likes it, and picked the same yarn when I took
several for her to look at. Once I start knitting it, I will
take a picture. I looked at my knitting diary and though I
had the size needles, I didn't write down the stitches per inch.
Therefore, had to knit the gauge square again.

Oh, Knitty is out for the winter. I spent a lovely hour or so
looking at patterns and reading the articles. It's an online
knitting magazine for people who knit. It's found at

Saturday Sky's and updates

I took this picture this afternoon. The sky is just plain,
no clouds, etc. It's cold, high of 32 or something.

This is last week's Saturday Sky picture that I forgot to post.
Silly me.

I tried to send these picture to my friend in Denmark and
the email failed. It connected but the site rejected them.

So, decided you could all enjoy some of my Christmas decorations.
You can click on the pictures to make them bigger if you want to
see them better.

This is a tree that my hubby bought at a craft store. It was
just a wood tree with holes. Hubby had a larger set of red lights
so he had to drill more holes, then painted it red, and put his
red lights into it. I like it, hope you do too.

Ok, this a Santa I made years and years ago. It is made with
a rug needle, putting the pieces of yarn into the Santa. It
is filled with newspapers. I also made a tree the same way but
didn't take a picture of it.

This is my collection of Snowmen. I leave some of the them
up all year because I love them, but others were put away with
the Christmas stuff. So, here they all are. I especially like
the two small ones. The one of the left is a small glass one,
and the right one is a Harry Potter Snowman, by Jan Karon, he
has a book on his head.

These two pictures I made years ago. The left is Crewel work,
for those who knows what that is. Outlined background, heavy crewel
yarn, following the pattern to embroider it. The right picture was a
kit of pieces that you had to applique on the background using sequins.

Oh dear I forgot to put the picture I took of my knitting. We
went to a Christmas Party at church last night. There was a
dinner, and there is always time at a dinner to knit, so I finished
the ribbing and started on the rest of the hat in ST. It does it
automatically knitting in the round. I will have to another post
tomorrow with the knitting update. Such is life.

Saturday Sky

I took this picture around 2:30 this afternoon. It has been
very cold today, as it's been the last few days. Winter has
begun or something.

I didn't take any pictures of knitting. I just cast on and
did a few rows of 2+2 ribbing on a hat for my granddaughter.
You might look back a while and see when I started one in red
long ago. This time I'm knitting it in red again, on the right
size needle, and just making a regular kid hat. I've started
the fancy hat several times in different yarns, and it never
worked. So, this time, it better work, just a plain knit in
the round hat. Well, if it looks like I won't have enough
red, I might put a stripe of one of the other colors, either
the lighter green, or darker green. We'll see.

I did the pocket liners for my sweater. One in the right
size and the other a bit bigger. Now I have to cast on
for the back of the sweater, and haven't done that yet.
I noticed that the back and one arm are knit in one piece,
and I suppose one of the fronts does that also. We'll see.
It would be nice not to have to knit separate sleeves.

The sock is on hold, and will at least till I get
the silly hat done. It's been so frustrating. Here's
hoping.

Saturday Sky and pictures

It rained like crazy all morning. I woke to rain on
the roof. I took this after it stopped and the sky
has lightened up a bit. It was total gray earlier.

This is a circular needle, one of the cheaper ones that
was all curled up, and needed straitening. So, I got out
my big mixing bowl and filled it with HOT water and
inserted the needle for 10 min. or so. Then I got
it out and straitened it out in a towel to dry it. I
rolled up the towel and pulled it strait. Now it
is sitting on the coffee table, waiting for me to
make a gauge square.

This is the gauge square I made with size 8 circular needle. Don't
worry it's the blue yarn Cascade 220. I had 5 stitches per inch
instead of the needed 4 stitches, therefore I straitened the 9 inch
circular needle to make another gauge square. Now these gauge squares
are actually pocket liners. I figure since I need two, I can make
another one with the 9's and it won't matter if I use them both as
they won't be seen much.

This is a picture of the sweater I've decided to make. I
pulled out the 4 rows I had, to make the gauge squares.
This is the sweater I downloaded from Lion Brand's free
patterns. I like it better as it has pockets.

I knit the first gauge square at my friend's house where I
can teach knitting to anyone who comes. Church members
that is.

We are trying to buy printer ink. The ink for my printer is
cheap, only 9.99 for each color. His printer ink is expensive.
Our computers are hooked together, so he should be able to hook
my printer up to his computer. Oh, wait, he never did quite get
them hooked up together. But he accesses the Internet from in
here, so he should be able to figure it out anyway. I have a
coupon for $6 for Staples which runs out today. My ink is cheap
there. So, he's seeing whether he can figure out how to use my
printer. Mine is also a copier.

Hi all,

I've not been taking any pictures, silly me.
I went to a friend's house to knit with friends.
Another friend came and knitted with us. Just
three of us today. Sometimes it's only two of us.

It's raining like crazy now. On the way to my friend's
house it wasn't bad, just sprinkling. But when I came
out to go home, it was raining. Such fun. Better
than snow I suppose. It was raining so hard, going
down to the main road from her house, my car slipped
even though it's four wheel drive. Kept my food on
the anti-locks and they stopped me. I was just glad
I had stepped on the brake before I got close to the
stop sign. I drove carefully on the way home.

Did some knitting. I knit a pocket liner, and am
using it for a gauge square. I thought that was
smart. I figured even if the gauge was wrong, I
could still use it for a pocket liner, as you
wouldn't see it. Then I have to knit the other
one also.

No pictures again. I have become so frustrated with that hat.
I frogged back a few rows and then picked up stitches, twice.
It still looks awful. I don't pick up stitches very well, even
though I used a smaller needle. Frustrated. Maybe I should try
to make a different hat? But I like this one if I could ever get
it finished.

I found another sweater pattern for the blue yarn
and have to make a gauge square. This one is made on circular
needles so maybe it will go better.

Just wanted to let you know, yes, I am still around. Forgot to post on the Wordless Wednesday, but didn't have a picture. Then I hadn't updated my knitting so didn't even take a Saturday Sky picture. Well, I worked on the hat. Wouldn't you know I goofed and did a purl row in there. I could leave it, but don't think I will, so need to frog a few rows. What I did as I am knitting in the round, is pick it up backwords for a row. Oh well. I took out the sweater stitches, there was only 4 rows. Thinking I want a top down pattern. Will look over at Lion Brand Patterns and then maybe Revelry. I am a member, but don't do a whole lot there.

So, I've been knitting, and will try to update more often.

Saturday sky etc. (Warning lots of pictures)

Took this around 2 PM. It's about 60, warmer than it has been.

Hubby is working on the garage doors, getting them
ready to paint and painting them. This is the smaller
garage door which is done. I like it. Asked him to
put some color on them as we have a entire white house,
and it needs some color.

This is the large 2 car garage door. He had painted the cross
pieces the red, but the painter's tape pulled off the old paint,
so here is he working on sanding the whole door.

Here it is closed. Almost ready for paint again.

As I walked around the house after taking the garage door
pictures and took some end of fall pictures.
Enjoy!

Not much knitting this week. So no pictures as they
haven't changed hardly at all. Let's see, did one row
on the baby hat, 1 row on the washcloth, and nothing at
all on the sweater. Will have to do more than that to
get these things done.

Saturday Sky and knitting updates

It was raining when I took this picture around 1:30 today.
Sky doesn't look too bad, but it was raining.

This is the washcloth that I use for waiting places.
Haven't had to wait anywhere this week, but did knit
on it during commercials last night.

This is the cardigan I started. I think I've done
4 rows so far. Been trying to work on the hat for
Wynnie.

The story of the hat for Wynnie. I had started in this
color but decided I didn't like it much, and ordered the
correct colors from Webs. Look down a few posts to see it.
First balled the two colors, and took them to my knitting
at a friend's house. I started with the center end, and
started knitting a gauge square, and after a few rows,
ran into knots. The yarn is so soft that it sticks together.
The outside yarn got tangled with the inside yarn. I worked
for a long time trying to untangle everything. Finally did,
and started to pull more of the inside yarn out and
out came more and more knots. I got so frustrated,
I threw the yarn across the couch. I hadn't brought
any other projects or yarn, so I was stuck.
So, when I got home, I looked at it and it was
so tangled that, I decided to make the make the
hat with the original yarn, and that's as far as
I've gotten so far. Maybe I'm not supposed to
knit this hat, I don't know.

Well, Wynnie is one year old, and maybe she won't
care which yarn I use. There will be the flowers
on the brim, and there's a picture of the pattern
down a few posts.

Tonight we are driving up to Scranton for a Church
meeting. It will be dark and raining and hubby and
I are not looking forward to driving up there tonight.
It's bad enough to drive in rain during the day.
Oh, well, such is life.

No Saturday Sky, just Granddaughter

Well, on Friday morning around 10 AM we left home and drove
down to Baltimore. We checked into our Hotel, and then drove
over to our Son's house and I took pictures of them. So, you
will have to suffer a few photos.

This one was taken of the 3 of them, our youngest son,
his wife and their baby. (well, she's 1 now, walking
and talking) She didn't warm up to her Grandma and
Grandpa visiting, so just resorted to photos.

This one was actually with her Father, but I seemed to
have cut off his head so edited him out. Isn't she
a sweetie?

This is my favorite photo of her. She just turned her
head at the right moment. Our Granddaughter. We
won't mention she is the 5th grandchild, but the
one that lives the closet to us and is accessible.

So, after having a take out dinner with them, we
went back to the hotel. No picture there, sorry.
This morning, after a terrible night sleep, I
never sleep well in a hotel, we went to the
Temple. Our in car GPS thing changed her tune
and first had us one road, and then changed
us to another. Odd. We had to stop for
breakfast as the hotel's was expensive. So we
finally found a McD's and ate a quite breakfast
there, which made us that much later for the
Temple. It turned out okay, as we were able
to do work for relatives of hubby's. And
then we got to the meeting we went down
for, so that turned out well.

After the Temple we tried to find lunch,
and had trouble with that too. Finally
we found a Mexican Restaurant and ate
there, without the GPS recommendation.
We got home here around 5:40 or so I
think. Hubby has just gone to bed as
he was very tired. I am somewhat
tired but seem to have gotten a second
wind or something, but will go to bed
soon.

I did some knitting on the washcloth
in the car. Managed to do it without
getting car sick which was good.

Saturday Sky and some Updates

It is a nice day here in the Poconos, a tad more chilly
than I care for but hubby is working outside banging. I
think he is working on the gutters.

This is our Relief Society dinner. Not all are shown on this
picture, but you wouldn't know the people anyway. My friend
in Denmark has a small Relief Society and I wanted to show
her how many women we have in ours.

I cast on for another washcloth. It's easy knitting for
when I go to places where I am going to talk to people,
like knitting groups or going to do while waiting for
the doctor or dentist.

I have just cast on 129 stitches for the back of the
sweater I am making. It will be a cardigan, the
pattern came from The Knitter's handy book of sweater
patterns. The yarn is Cascade 220 in the Summer
Sky color.

This is the new yarn I got for Wynnie's hat. The yarn is
Jill Eaton's Merino and the tags don't say the color name.
Obviously the hat will be the green and the light green
will be the outside of the flowers that will go on the
brim. I will use the red that I was trying to knit the
hat from, for the center of the flowers. You can look
back several posts and see the pattern.

Nothing much happening around here but knitting. Oh I am
reading also. That cuts the knitting time a bit.

Saturday Sky etc.

I took this right before I ate lunch around 12:30 PM. It's
been raining the last couple days, and might just do it today
also, we'll see.

I've been having such trouble finding a gauge for the hat
I making for Wynnie. I made 3 gauge squares with needle size
8, then 7, then 9. You don't see the 7 because I forgot to
put the yarn through the last stitch, so it unraveled in the
wash today. I washed it with a load I was doing, and then
pinned them to the blocking board to dry. Maybe then, it will
show the gauge better. Of course it will end up to need to the
size 7, but hope not. I think the size 9 needle gauge might be
right. Come back another day to see which one is right.

I have to put together a salad to take to church for a dinner
before the Woman's General Conference Broadcast tonight.
The meal is at 6:30 and the Conference is at 8 PM.

I also need to roll the hanks into balls for the sweater
I want to knit. Once I move the blocking board I can do that.

New Yarn

Yesterday, Thursday the 25th of September, I was in East
Stroudsburg teaching knitting at a friend's house there.
After knitting, I went to the closest yarn shop to her
house, called Mountain Knits and Purls. I have decided
to knit a plain sweater, just to able to say I can knit
a sweater, and hopefully it will fit.

This is Cascade 220 in the color Summer Sky 7815. It's 100%
Peruvian Highlands Wool. It has 220 yards. I got all 8 of
their skeins, as I am not a little person. I will be making
the Cardigan pictured. It cost about $6.95 a skein.

I also bought this yarn, for that cute hat pictured. The dark
green is the main color. I wanted a cuter green, but this is all
the Mission Falls had. The lighter green will make the flowers
and the red is just the center of the flowers. The first gauge
swatch I made in the green wasn't right, so using a one size
smaller needle, I am making another gauge swatch using the red
instead. Such fun.

The yarn is Mission Falls 1824 Wool, 100% Merino Superwash. The
pattern wants 9 stitches per 2 inches and I only got 8 stitches
per 2 inches. Actually the pattern called for 18 stitches per 4
inches, and that's just not logical with a 4 inch swatch. So I
just halved it. Could have gone to 1 inch but that would 4.5,
so decided to do the 2 inches. Easier to count.

It's been raining most of the day, mostly on hard, then light,

I took this pic around 7:00 PM. Nothing like waiting
till the last minute to take it. It's dark by 7:30.

No update on the socks as I haven't picked them up at all.
Silly me. Not too long ago, I downloaded a pattern for
a cute kid's hat I want to make for a granddaughter. But
want to finish the socks first. Does that mean I won't get
to the hat for quite a while? Guess so.

Saturday Sky, etc.

Took this photo this afternoon, it was very humid out.
The sky looked like it may rain sometime today. I don't
think it did though. Rained all day yesterday instead
maybe.

This is the sock I've been working on slowly. Not very far
yet. Using Paton's Kroy Socks yarn in color Winter Eclipse.
On two size 3 circular needles in the 24" length. I don't like
double pointed needles.

We gave blood for the red cross today. They were at Pocono
Raceway. You drive in under the track I think. They set
up in the infield or something. There were several cars
going around the track for practice or something. Although
someone said there was a SUV in among the cars. Odd.
Hubby's cousin was here today, he came in time to go give
blood, but he couldn't donate as he lives with someone who
has hepatitis. But he took pictures and things while we
gave blood. I haven't been able to give it for a while as
my iron has been low but today it was good. I remember the
first time long ago, when I gave blood, I passed out. Then
I discovered if I eat before giving blood, I'm fine.

Hubby cooked hamburgers and sausages for lunch. The hamburgers
were fine, but he undercooked the sausages. Turns out neither
of them liked the sausages as they were Chinese Sausages with
some of kind of sauce. They said they were sweet not hot which
they would prefer. I think I bought two packages for one price
and maybe the Chinese ones were under the first regular package
when I picked them both up thinking they were the same. Oh well.
There are 3 of those yucky sausages in the freezer. Wonder if
they will ever get eaten.

Saturday Sky

Just took this at 5:40 PM. It's been an overcast sky
with a little rain at one point. Seems that blue sky
is now peeping out.

As for knitting, I haven't done a thing. Can't seem to
pick up the needles on those socks and get busy.

Yesterday hubby tried a different type light in my range
hood, which didn't work, and then put in the old bulb while
it was still on, and blew the fuse in the thing. He took it
all apart to put the new fuse in, and then the lights still didn't
work. When he took out the switch assembly to see what was
wrong, he broke one of the switches. One problem after
another. The dumb thing was working fine, and now it's all
in pieces. We went out looking this afternoon and he decided
he might like a microwave range hood. But we decided we needed
to come home and measure. Sure enough, we don't have enough
room for a microwave. So, at this point, no range hood, just
the shell is there. Maybe Monday we can look at regular range
hoods again before or after the church picnic.

'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.'

I took this Saturday Sky picture this afternoon around 4:30 PM.
It is a beautiful day here in the Poconos. Temps in the low
80's. No rain. Great day. Hubby did work on the driveway
patching holes. Can't even drive my car unless hubby drives
it down for me. Silly.

I'm using a pattern from this book by Ann Budd, called 'Knitting
Socks'. I'm using 7 inches an inch with size 3 circulat needles
with Patons Kroy Socks yarn in Winter Eclipse color which is
basically blue.

I'm not very far with this sock yet. Haven't knitted all week,
it was last Saturday when I last picked it up. Yes, I know
it's the only thing on my needles at the moment so no excuse.

Been a tad busy, listening to an audio book, by Robert Ludlum,
reading a book by Dean Koontz, doing crossword puzzles, cleaning
etc. I looked at the small bag of sock yarn and needles, but
didn't pick them up. Oh well.

I'm cooking a slow cooker recipe of a Weight Watchers,
Lasagna Stew. Using gluten free lasagna noodles for
the first time. Hubby can't eat much gluten products.
It was put into the cooker in layers, but I can't quite
see how it will be to get it out of the slow cooker.
I think it will look a mess, but it should taste good
anyway.

By the way, I joined Weight Watchers about 4 1/2 weeks
ago and have lost 12.4 pounds so far. Much more to
go though.

An Eventful Saturday

Today we decided to drive to NJ and visit a cousin of my
husband. We left here around 10:30. It takes about 1 hour
and 33 min. or so. We spent some time at his house catching
up with each other. His cousin has never married and no he's
not gay. After a while we three went out to lunch. We looked
for a sub shop that we remembered from when we lived in NJ years
ago. Turns out they went out of business a bit ago. So we
ended up going to another, and it was yummy. After lunch we
drove around for quite a while looking at places hubby
remembered, including his parent's old house. It was still
the same color it was. Anyway, while we were out, I took
this Saturday Sky picture up in Wasatch park. Different
trees in the picture today.

In our travels, we found the park museum. This is the sign
at the entrance, although I took it as we left the place.
It was a very nice museum. Long ago, when we were dating
he took me to a Planetarium that is the same area. But they
have no one to run it anymore, and the equipment is very old
and needs revamping as they do things these days with computers.

It was a nice day. We went back to his cousin's house for a bit
but it was all ready around 5 PM. We wanted to get home. So
we left shortly thereafter. Hubby made a wrong turn into a
shopping center near there, and we ate dinner at an Arby's
in there. Then we found our way home. Arrived here around
7:20 or so.

I took my sock that I had just cast on for. I still can't
knit in the car. Makes me sick like reading in the car
can do. But I knit a few rows at the cousin's and another
couple after I finished my sub, while waiting for the
guys to finish. I forgot to take a picture, but there
is really not much there yet. Maybe in a few days, as
I am a slow knitter.

Another Saturday Sky

I took this out on the balcony around 10 AM this morning.
Nice day, and I don't think it will rain, but we will see.

Well, I finished the Bear I made for my granddaughter. I
took it to my knitting guild to finish it. I was supposed
to take my needles and sock yarn for the class they had,
but I know how to knit socks on two needles not double
points. So I was able to sew the bear together, stuff
it, hard in the legs and arms and gently in the body
so the kid can grab it, she's only 1. Then I embroidered
the eyes and snout. I think I need to do the right eye
again, as it's a little small. A little more embroidering
thread I suppose.

It's been quite nice this week, with temps no higher than 80.
A lot of rain though. It's been a wet summer this year.
Is that because we're moving to New Mexico in a three
years and it will be dry all the time?

Anyway, have the needles and yarn and made the gauge square
for socks, just wondering if I should learn one big needle
as I have one in size 0. The ones I made the gauge square
with size 2 needles. The pattern calls for 0 size needles.
In 0 size I only have the one long one, not two. I think I
know how to do one needle, it works similarly as for 2 needles.
So, maybe another gauge square?

Saturday Sky and Knitting

I took this picture from the dining room window, as it's been
raining off and on, more on, than not, all morning.

This is the knitting. I knitted both the back and front of
the little bear I'm making for a granddaughter. The edges
were rolled under and it was a mess, so decided I had to
block them before I sew them together and stuff. I pinned
them on Yesterday afternoon, and put a wet cloth on both
pieces. It was dry this morning, so took off the cloths.
Guess I will unpin them this afternoon. They should be
easier to sew together now.

Last night we took a fried to pick up his car in East
Stroudsburg. His wife had gone to the eye doctor and
then he sent her via ambulance to Will's Eye in Philadelphia.
She had a detached retina. Not good. Hence her hubby had to pick
up the car, so we took him, dropped him at it, and then
went out to eat. We went to a restaurant called The
Willowtree Inn. We knew nothing about it. We sat outside
on the lower deck at the rail. The deck wasn't far above
a wide creek, and it was very nice. The restaurant turned
out to be very expensive, but they had some Lighter Fare
on the menu and we ordered from that. Fillet Mignon
Sandwiches. Odd, but good. It was on hard long rolls,
that you ate with fork and knife. Yummy. There was also
garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw with the meal. It
cost $11, but was very good. There was huge old Willow
Tree there that I suppose the INN was named after.

Saturday Sky and some knitting

Nice day today. Took this around 10:30 this morning. We're planning
on taking a drive and being treated to lunch by hubby.

I've been knitting. I found this bear pattern for my granddaughter
that's one year old. It called for wool, and it would be bigger in
wool, but I figured it needed to be washable, so I'm using cotton.
So far I finished the back of the bear, and have just started the
front side. Finished the legs and just attached them together and
am starting the body. It seems to be going together fairly quickly.
Will I get sidetracked once it's together for embroidering the face,
like I did with the pink pig? We'll see. Her birthday is all ready
passed for the year, so it will just be an anytime present.

Saturday Sky

I took this picture around lunch time before it started
to rain, and it is now raining hard.

I all ready took that picture of the pink pig. It is now folded
a bit to fit in the box I found. Wrapped the box in birthday
paper and then in brown paper for mailing. Also made a card for
my granddaughter. Will send the box on Tuesday which will be
a week before the birthday. Then will send the card a day or
two later. Hope she likes that silly pink pig.

Need to go to the drug store to pick up meds that were
ordered yesterday. But might wait to see if this rain
stops. It's blowing and raining to beat the band. Can
even hear it in this room, so it must be coming down hard.

So, haven't started knitting anything else yet.

The Pink Pig is Done!

Well, the birthday is the 29th, so figured I better do
the finishing of the pink pig. He's not gorgeous, but
I think a 4 year old will love him or her.

So, the ears are too long, the snout is too big. The eyes
are ok. Oh and forgot to turn him over, as there is a little
curly tail on the back. Forgot about that.

Now, finally I can start another project. Not sure what
it will be, not quite ready to start on the wool project
of the Fair Isle Cardigan yet. I did find a pattern for
a baby bear, that I might make for my other granddaughter
who's just 1.

So, getting ready to knit again.

Saturday Sky and the Zoo

Don't you like this picture of the sky? For some reason
it won't upload. Such fun. The battery was going, so
that may be the reason. When it recharges, I will try
to get another picture of the sky, and put it up here.

Well, today hubby and I went for a ride in his new Hybrid
Nissan Altima. We figure that since it is so good on gas,
that we can take day trips. So we started out this
morning around 10:30 I think. We drove up to Milford
first, about an hour away. We were planning to go to
Grey Towers Mansion, the home of Griffin Pinchot, who
ever he was. We didn't go because we had to wait a
half hour for the tour and hubby was too hot and humid.
So instead, we left and decided to travel a ways
on a Route 6, that we had travel info on. We drove
and drove. Hubby was getting tired of driving. So,
I then saw in the one the travel things that Claws
and Paws Animal park was just a little ways ahead.
Well, it took us a while to find it, it's not
heavily advertised on the way. It's a private
park, run on the ticket revenue. First we saw
this silly tiger thing, and hubby put his head
in there.

This is the stately Lion. There were two of them in the cage. Just
liked their kingly look.

Found some Alpacas. They had a couple this color and then there
was pretty brown one, that wasn't sitting a good place to take
a picture. Looked like they needed shearing. Too bad it's
so far away. Wonder if any other knitter asks for the pelts.

Well, had three other pictures. Two of some Turtles, and the
Saturday Sky picture and they won't upload. Some how those pictures
became movies. Not sure what happened, but I was carrying the camera in
my pocket while at the zoo. Will figure that out when the battery
charges. At least got 3 of the pictures.

So, no knitting this week, just the eyes to sew on the pink pig.

Saturday Sky and Buying a Car

I took this photo this afternoon sometime, while we were down
in Doylestown, Pa, buying a new car. It was getting ready
to rain a short time later.

We were at the Nissan Dealer down there. We went down to
Doylestown to get the Altima Hybrid car that hubby wanted.
Took us about an hour and 15 to get there.

This is the last picture, and not a very good one of hubby's
old car which is a Subaru Outback VDC. It was pouring rain
at the time It was an alright car. Not my favorite, but we
had it for almost 5 years.

Hubby really would have like a metallic green one they had,
but they called us to say the green one had just been sold,
before we got there. And after many hours spent at the car
dealer, we finally got this new car, the Altima Hybrid.
It's Silver as you can see. Gets great gas mileage, which
is why hubby wanted it. The only thing it's not, is a an
all wheel drive, which might make it hard to get it up our
driveway, in the snow. We will see. He may take
my Saturn Vue to work on Snowy days as I tend to stay
insde all day when it snows
.

On the knitting front, I did knit another ear for the
pink pig and the ears are now on it. I looked at the
snout and I'm thinking it's too big, to make it look
like the picture. I may make that again. Anyway,
will hold a picture until I get him done. My granddaughter's
birthday is on the 29th. So time to get this pig done.

So, I've been knitting, guess the funk is over.

Saturday Sky and Knitting Funk

Well, a nice, but very humid and warm day. That's summer in the East.
Took this about noon.

Well, I haven't really knitted for quite a while. Not sure why,
guess it's just a knitting funk. The last thing I knit which wasn't
much, was the ear for ill-fated pink pig. Still need to knit a
matching ear. Just can't seem to do it. Haven't even felt like
picking up anything else to knit. Crazy. Maybe it will pass soon?

Hubby decided a couple weeks ago to go with a DSL modem instead
of the cable modem we had. Cheaper or something. Well, since
then, it was a Wednesday afternoon it was installed, Hubby
hasn't been able to get the Internet, by router to his
computer in the other room. He's been trying and trying
and no luck. Last week, he bought a wireless modem thinking
the wired modem we had wasn't working. Still didn't work.
Well, today, he decided it was time to figure it out. Well
after a couple hours he told me I could get on my computer
and get my email. Surprise, he figured it out. We both
could get on the computer at the same time, wonderful.
Oh, while he was trying, he could only get the Internet
on one computer at a time. Frustrating. Certainly glad
that's done with, and it works.

Saturday Sky

Took this photo around noon I think. It's a nice day,
but may rain later tonight. Guess we can always use
the rain, but my email friend in Denmark is having a
drought. Crazy weather.

Well, the pink pig. I reknit the ear that was wrong.
Now, it is different than the other ear. Can't win.
It's also huge, don't know what happened. Guess I
should start all over with the ears, and pay attention
to the directions and have them both look the same.
Frustration. Silly ears.

Saturday Sky and Reflections

Took this picture around 1 PM this afternoon. Instead of
going onto the balcony, I went outside and walked around
to another view. It is a nice day but warm at 85 degrees.

Wednesday night we drove into Stroudsburg to church as Hubby
was to speak to the scouts about Electronics or something. I
read a book while sitting on a chair in the foyer. Then we
started for home, but hubby saw a soda place and wanted to
stop. He went inside to get some, and I sat in the car.
There was this big puddle on the parking lot and I noticed
the trees reflected in it. So, I got my camera out of my
purse, and opened the door. When I stood up, I couldn't see
the trees in the puddle, so I stepped away from the door
and hunkered down to take the picture. I love reflections
and shadows and things.

Well, last week, I said I would finish the pink pig.
Not yet. I did get the pieces of ears and nose out
of the bag. Decided I need to reknit the first ear
I did, as I misread the directions and it came out
pointy. So, haven't done any knitting yet, but
will soon. Then I will sew them on.

Yes, I am a good procrastinator. The granddaughter's
birthday is in July towards the end. So I have some
time.

Hubby signed up to change to DSL Internet. We have
cable modem internet now. But DSL is slightly
cheaper. So Wednesday afternoon it will be
installed. We will see. Not sure about this.

Saturday Sky

Took this around 11 this morning. Noticed that most of my
Saturday Sky's look similar. I go out on the balcony on
Saturday and take the picture looking the same way between
the trees. Trees are too tall to look too many other ways.

No Knitting this week. Still procrastinating on that pink pig.
I think it's because it's sewing instead of knitting. Silly me.

Hubby went and help a family move their things onto trucks.

He's home now hot and exhausted. We have a wedding reception
tonight at church. A friend's son second wedding.

I promise to get that pig done this week.

Rainy Saturday Sky

I took this around 11 AM today. It had rained hard a little
before this. But wasn't raining when I took the pic. Very
humid.

No knitting at all this week. Well, that's not exactly true as
we went to a picnic on Monday for the Memorial Day Picnic. I
took my knitting, and managed to knit both Pink Pig ears, and
his snout. I now need to sew them on the pig body. I seem to
have some sort of block, that makes me procrastinate sewing
on those things. Driving myself crazy.

Maybe I'm procrastinating since the next thing I want to knit
is the Fair Isle Cardigan, and I've recently heard on a podcast
that the largest size on the pattern, isn't big enough for us
bigger ladies. So, I will need to read my Big Girl Knits for
ideas for making the cardigan big enough for me.

Recently I was working on the Tilted Duster. When I put
together the top, before picking up for the skirt, I tried
it on. Even though I had made it bigger, by the figuring
of the leader of our knit guild, it didn't fit. So I
frogged it. Now I'm worrying that even if I made the
cardigan bigger will it fit? Will the fair isle
designs come out all right? Anyway, worries.

Anybody out there that had made a Fair Isle sweater
bigger? How did it work, what did you do? Did it fit?

Saturday Sky, etc.

Took this around 3PM this afternoon. Beautiful day, a

little windy and cool, but a very pretty day.

On the Knitting front, I finally found a pig pattern
for my granddaughter who loves the color pink and pigs,
for some reason. She's 4.

So here is the basic body, I think besides the pig, you
can make a bunny and a bear from this shape. So still need
to knit his ears, a snout and the curly tail.

Have recently gotten a new Palm Pilot, a Z22. So that
has been taking some time from the knitting lately. You
can figure how that is.

One thing I need to do and haven't, is to change the
plastic rug protector under my chair before this
computer. It has holes in it, and I have a new
one. It's just seems like a huge job and I just
can't get myself to do it. Silly me.

Saturday Sky

Well, I have a Saturday Sky picture, but my computer is
being very slow and /or Blogger is being very slow. Either
way I can't seem to get the picture onto my computer.
Frustrating, I haven't had a picture some Saturday's
but today I have one and can't get it on. Such is life.

I'm knitting a pink pig. I have the body done and just
did the arms, now I need to sew together the arms and
stuff them. It doesn't look like much yet so haven't
taken a picture yet. After I sew and stuff the arms,
then I sew the body together and stuff that, then I will
take a picture.

A Trip Down the driveway (Picture Heavy)

We own about 5 1/2 acres. There is about 2 acres down below the
house and about 2 acres of woods to the left of the driveway.

Our driveway goes all the way around the house, and our house
faces up the hill. So as I came out of the front door, I
turned right and saw this wide open tulip. The picture almost
looks like some other flower.

Yesterday when I walked with my hubby down the hill, I wished I
had my camera. So today I took it and walked down myself. I
loved the colors across the acreage near the neihbor house over
there.

Then I was walked down the drive, I saw another view of the
colors farther down the hill. Isn't it pretty?

As I approached the bottom of the drive I took a picture through
the trees of the field across the street, that a farmer uses.

Closer to the bottom, the field view opens. When we moved here
24 years ago, we made sure the farmer wasn't going to sell his
land, as we didn't want our view defaced. Maybe 8 years ago the
father died, and we worried, but the sons seems to be keeping it
in the family. They plant corn one year and then soybeans the
next. Field rotation or something. The corn is just field corn
and soybeans too. Use them for feeding animals. At the moment it
has just been turned over, in preparation for further stuff. Never
plant in this neck of the woods before May 15th.

Then I turned back up the long drive, and hubby was nice
and made a seat about half way up, so we can sit and rest
before going the whole way. The trees it is attached to,
are now dead, so not sure how long the seat will remain to
be sat on.

Maybe it will last the next 4 years, because then we plan to sell,
hope the market is better then. Hubby retires then and we want
to move, and I told him we have to go warmer. At this point in time
we are thinking of Albuquerque, New Mexico. But who knows if this
will stay true through the next 4 years. I'm tired of the snow.

As for knitting, I started a pink pig, for my granddaughter
who is 4 years old and loves the color pink, and pigs.
Only half way up the left leg so far. Need to get it
done.

Saturday Sky?

Well, there is no Saturday sky picture today. I forgot. Silly
me. Thought of it while eating lunch today, but then forgot by
the time I finished it. Such is life.

Well, I tried on the top of the tilted duster and guess
what. It didn't fit. The sleeves were long enough for
me which was great, but the fronts did not meet over my
big bust, and the back was way too short. So, I decided
that wasn't my cup of tea, and tossed it. Didn't feel
like trying to unravel it or anything. It's gone.

So, I have recently found a pig pattern on my Knitting
page a day calendar. I found some pink acrylic yarn
and am going to knit it for my granddaughter. After
that I just may start the Palette Fair Isle Cardigan.
I think there is a picture of the pattern if you look
back in the older pages on my blog. Just found it
back on July 21, 2006. Didn't realize I've had the
pattern so long. I think I will
be ready to tackle it. We'll see. Actually with the
size problem I had with the Duster, I may just go
through the measuring in Big Girl Knits, so that
the Fair Isle sweater will come out a better size.

Did some wash and listened to audio books, knitted
a bit on the pig, etc.

Belated Saturday Sky and Temple Trip

I did take this photo at a rest stop as we traveled to
Palmyra, NY. yesterday, so none of my trees in the shot
for a change. Just a few light posts and it looks like
the slice of a sign.

It takes us about 4 hours to get to Palmyra to the Temple. We left
our home about 7 AM. We went to Stroudsburg to pick up the couple
who was going with us. Left there about 7:35. My hubby did all
the driving. We got to Palmyra early as we didn't have to be at
the Temple until 1 PM. The couple we took hadn't seen the history
sites, so we first went to Cumorah Hill where the gold plates had
been hidden. Joseph Smith was led to the plates by the angel
Moroni. Of course Joseph Smith was able to interpret the plates
into the Book of Mormon. Anyway, at the top of the hill today
is a statue of the angel Moroni stands. It's hard to take
a full on picture as Moroni faces out towards the view. Just
looked at the picture again. The flag post is more prominent
than Moroni. That's the statue in the distance, silly me.

As we walked towards the monument I noticed the view and
snapped a picture of that.

We also visited the Joseph Smith farm, and the couple we took
speak Spanish, so they found a Spanish speaking missionary to
take them on the tour, so that was nice. Hubby also speaks
Spanish somewhat and that's one reason we ended up taking them.

Then it was time to get to the Temple. We made sure the
Spanish speaking couple got tags so they could be helped.
A number of people from our ward were there and so we all
went to the same session. It was very nice. The Temple
is a special place for us and we like to go fairly often.
Sorry I didn't get a closer picture. Didn't think of it
till we out at the car afterwards.

After the Temple we took the couple to see the print shop they
have restored, where the Book of Mormon was first published.
Then we had a meal at a Chinese restaurant which isn't my
favorite type of food, but everyone else liked it, so I
suffered it too. After that we started the trip home. We
didn't leave until around 6:30 PM. So we didn't get the
couple back until 10:30 and then got home ourselves at
11:00 PM. A very nice but very long day. Hubby was certainly
tired of driving.

We had been planning to ride with another couple and the
Spanish speaking couple in a minivan. But the minivan
broke it's transmission, the day before the trip. Guess
we're glad it worked until we were on our way and then
broke. So that's another reason we took the Spanish
speaking couple. By the way, I don't speak Spanish.

So, if we had been riding in a minivan I probably could
have knitted. But in hubby's car, sitting in the front
I get sick knitting there. Not fun.

Granddaughter's First Birthday

My fifth granddaughter is turning 1 this Sunday. She's the first
of my Son's and daughter-in-law child. I sent a card, and then
went to K-Mart Wednesday and got this toy for her. It's a block
sorter. You know different shaped holes with matching blocks that
fit the holes. Also makes a noise that I think will get on the
nerves. Emailed my son and let him know about the noise and there
was probably a battery place somewhere.

Well, it's been since Saturday, and can you see the difference
in the amount of buds that have bloomed. You can scan down
and see how they looked Saturday.

This is the neighbor's forsythia across the acreage. Used the
telephoto today.

This is ours.

I'm still shuffling things to make room for the blocker board. Might
start blocking by Monday, as I'm busy this weekend.

Saturday Sky this time

This is the Sky this morning. Looked like rain, but then
the sun came out and it's been a nice day. Warm at 69.

Turns out that I couldn't download the pictures because
the picture thing had gone behind my browser and didn't
see it until I closed the browser. Odd.

Now that I look at this picture better, I see if is very
hard to see the forsythia in the middle of the trees. I
should have used the telephoto. Anyway, that stand of
forsythia is bigger and more developed at the moment than
the ones on our north side of the hill. I could see them
better than the camera could I guess. You can see the
difference between the Sat Sky pic and this one, as the
sun has come out and the sky is clearer.

Working on making a space so I can place the blocking
thing so I can block my Titled Duster.

I started a sock last weekend, but only cast-on and did
one row I think. Been busy both reading one book and
listening to another. At different times though. I'm
reading vol.2 of the Work and the Glory by Gerald Lund.
Listening to Total Control, by David Baldacci.

So, no knitting last few days.

Saturday Sky and Forsythias

It is a warm day, high 60's I believe, the computer weather thing
says 68. The sun is now out, I can see if through the house out
the window. When I took the picture the sun was hidden.

This is our forsythia, just starting. The picture of the
neighbor's southern facing forsythia is much further along.
But after uploading this one, blogger would not let me upload
the other two. Such fun. Will try again later. Just looked
to see if you could see the sky but no, so will try again later.

Picture Heavy catch up post

Well today was so nice I sat on the deck to look at the mail
I had just picked up from the post office. As I sat there
for a bit, I got out my camera and took some pictures.

This is the round part of the house seen from the deck
where I was sitting. You can see the satellite's TV
dish on the roof of the house. There is also one of
hubby's antennas for something or other. There are
8 windows in an arc around the view part of the room.
There is a screened open able at each end and the
rest are just large windows. You can see a small
one and maybe severak of the bigger ones. The
room is 35 foot in diameter. We use it as family
room and our bedroom believe it or not.

Here is a view of the deck from where I was
sitting on the top bench in the shade. There
are two levels of deck and it is not attached
to the house as the driveway goes all the way
around the house.

Next I looked to the right and took this one.
it's a view of our edge trees looking past them
to our neighbor's acreage.

This is looking south from the deck, we live on a hill
about half way up on the North side of the hill. So
I am not looking south but North I suppose.

Then I got up and turned around to take a picture
up the hill. Our house faces up the hill which is
a little odd. I had to put a note on the lower level
facing down the hill, so people would know that door
only goes into a garage and the front door is around
the other side of the house. The people who built the
house made the garage door with a porch like a front
door almost.

That was my afternoon stop on the deck enjoying the nice
temperature of 65 degrees. I have forgotten to post
for a bit missing two Wordless Wednesday's or maybe
three. Also missed the last Saturday Sky. So decided
to take some pics of our deck and surrounding areas.

I haven't knitted hardly at all. I did finish that
washcloth and am using it all ready. I want to
block the parts of the Tilted Duster I have done,
but haven't gotten that far yet. We got a new dryer
this week, and I forgot to take a picture of it.
We thought it was not working right, but hubby found
a blockage in the long piping for the exhaust. He
cleared it out, and now the dryer works fine. Odd.

200th Post Blogversary

Wow, I missed my 100th post, but here it is 200. Hard to
believe that I've posted 200 times.

Here is today's Saturday Sky Post. Just took this
picture out from my balcony at 1:30. A clear, very
windy day. Better than the rain we've had for the
two previous days. Hubby was going to work in the
woods, chopping down a leaning tree, but he said
it's way too windy to be in the woods. He tried
blowing the sleeves, but they just blew back on
the drive. So he gave up. He worked on paying bills
and indoor stuff, and now he's napping.

This morning, I went to church to celebrate the birthday of
our Women's organization, the Relief Society. Didn't think
to take pictures, silly me. A group of us women from the choir
sang a song during the meeting. We saw a video and then a sister
spoke about the Society. Then we sang, and then a sister who
was born in England, told a story about two English young ladies,
who came to America and crossed the plains with a handcart company.
Then two sisters sang. Then we went into the gym and had a nice
brunch. So it was a nice birthday meeting.

This is the washcloth I work on when I can't pay much attention.
Took it this morning, and got to knit a few rows here and there.

Can you believe I am still working on those Tilted Duster sleeves.
Kind of afraid to finish them. Almost done one, with only 2 more
rows and then a bind off. Then will have about 10 rows on the other
sleeve to finish them. Can't wait.

Called my Mom the other night and my Dad is doing a little better.
So, we are not going down to see them yet. Not sure when but we
will see.

Gee, 200 posts. That's something.

Saturday Sky and a Baby Shower

Took this photo today around 11 AM I think. Nice but cold day.

The other night I went to my best Friend's Daughter's Baby
Shower. It's her second baby but she's expecting a boy this
time, and needed baby clothes for him. Didn't see passing
down her daughter's clothes. She got a lot of nice things,
and lots of clothes for her boy to be.

This is a baby blanket from my friend from our
knitting group. She's been knitting baby blankets as
she's a grandmother who's children and grand children
are having babies. She knit this one for Missy.

This is from Connie, who's first love is crochet, and she
crocheted this one for Missy. Connie's house is where we
have our knitting group. At group she is knitting baby booties,
a knitting project that is pushing her knitting a little bit.

Sorry the baby shower pictures are a little dark. Not sure if my
flash didn't work sometimes. Or maybe the ones where she is holding
up the blankets, the blanket takes all the light and leaves her dark.
Interesting that both blankets are yellow. I think when they started
them, they didn't know if it was girl or boy. By the way, I didn't knit
a present, I bought one. Silly me.

Tonight is a social at a friend from church's house. Made a cake
for it and now need to ice it. The last one I made for my birthday
I didn't wait long enough for it to cool, and it fell apart somewhat.
So, being careful to let this one cool more.

Didn't work much on my sleeves for the duster. A little frustrated
with them. Did a couple rows today.

The next time I blog, I think it will be my 200th blog. I missed
my 100th so trying to pay attention this time.

It was a cold day here in PA. It did reach 41, but it just
wasn't very nice, windy, etc. Even though it was sunny.
I stopped at McD's for lunch. Silly me. Oh, I still have
2 chocolate chip cookies in my purse. Forgot them.

Have to wind more yarn for the tilted Duster sleeves.
Ran out in the middle of a row. Such is life.

Saturday Sky, Snow and Dishes

Well, today has been busy. But first the Saturday Sky
taken around 4 this afternoon. Sort of warm today,
it was 51 here and where we were earlier it was first
low 40's and then 55. More about that down farther.

We went out about 9 this morning, and went over to New Jersey
to see some friends of ours. The husband is just recovering
from a brain aneurysm and doing very well. We stayed and talked
with them for an hour or so. Then we left. I got the pictures
put in wrong, so this one is when we came home today, we still
have snow. Now this is where it was snow blown, so it's still
there. We live on the north side of the hill, and always have
snow longer than others on south side of hills.

Anyway, while we were leaving our friends, we first stopped
at Don Pablo's and had lunch. Hubby had wanted to go there
on his birthday in December but didn't feel at the time that
he wanted to take the trek down to it. So, he made up for it
today. I just had a burger but he had a big dish of tacos and
burrito and what all. He was full when he was done.
So, next we went to Boscov's and looked at the dishes,
but didn't like the ones they had and they were somewhat
expensive. So then we went to Wallmart. They have lots.
Of course we didn't like each other's picks. Took us a
while to decide on this pattern. Funny thing it was my
first choice. We bought 2 packages as each one only
served 4. The only trouble with that is that you get
8 cups, and we don't drink coffee. I drink herb tea
occasionally but have some cute mugs I use for that.

So it was nice to see our friends today. He is doing very
well, and at this point he only mixes time up. He's just
found out that light outside means day, and dark outside
means night. But other than the time prob, he's doing
amazingly well. His doctor pointed out to him that he's
in very small percentage that come out of that virtually
with no problem. His wife is very happy.

I didn't take a picture of my knitting as I'm still
having trouble with the dumb sleeves. Just starting
the decreases for the sleeve cap. I had to take out
a few rows on one of them. How or why do I makes so
many mistakes?

Sky and Rain

Well, it's Saturday, and it is raining. Went out on the
balcony and took the sky picture and as you can see the
sky is white, cloud covered and it is raining. Occasionally
it rains very hard, and then it lessens for a while. Did that
a few days ago also.

I wasn't as good this week at writing on my blog every day. I
suppose sometimes it easier than others.

Well, I did take out the binding off of the sleeves and picked
up stitches and knit a few rows on the sleeves. Then I noticed
that the place where I picked up stitches looked awful. So, now
I need to take it back to where I did that. I will try picking up
with a smaller needle and maybe it will look better. Picking up
stitches is not my favorite thing to do.

A very dim day and need lights on inside today.

Sled Hill?

Well you remember a post or two ago, I mentioned hubby
asking people from church over to sled? Well, look
at it today. This a view from my dining room window,
looking over to where the sled run is and I see a lot
of brown grass, where once ice and snow were.
Yes, you can see the ice along the grass at the
back of the house. We do live on the north side
of the hill, so do keep snow longer then most. But
not on the sled run. LOL

I haven't knitted and those sleeves are mocking me.
Thursday night is the knitting guild where we are all
making Tilted Duster's. I bet most are working on the
duster part now. Oh well. Need to get those sleeves done
and maybe I can sew things together on Thursday night.
We'll see.

Snow almost gone

Well, the snow from Saturday is slowly melting. Actually
the driveway cleared up after hubby ran the snow blower.

Hubby invited for the second week in a row, people from
church over for sledding. By Monday when they would come,
it warms up and the snow is gone. It is supposed to be warm
again tomorrow, and no doubt the same as last week, it will
be almost gone tomorrow. Well, it is March which always
gives us weird weather.

I think I will knit when I get off the computer. Want to
get those sleeves done.

Saturday Sky Snow

Looks like we got about 3 inches of snow last evening and
night. Temps around mid 30's, so driveway might melt once
it is snow blowed.

I just turned the camera down as hubby was down running
the snow blower down by the bottom of the driveway. If
your can't see him, click on the photo to make it bigger.

I did not take a picture of the Tilted Duster sleeves. Just
look back a ways to see them. Working my way with first 6 rows on
one, and then 6 rows on the other.

Once I finish these sleeves it will be time for me to put
together the top of the duster. Then I will have to pick
up stitches around the bottom of the top, to make the duster
part. Then after that I pick up around the neck to make the
collar. Such fun. Hate picking up stitches.

Well, snow again. Hope it doesn't happen all through March.
Hard to believe it's another month all ready. Time does
seem to fly.

Hi all,

I've been knitting and needed a break. Only 4 more increases for
the sleeves of the Tilted Duster.

We were going out to eat, and stopped at the grocery store, to stop
at the bank that is in there. Then hubby wanted to see their Salad
bar and it looked good, so we both got that to take home to eat. Just
as well, as it had started snowing as we came out to the car.

Good thing it's the weekend. Hubby will be able to snow blow in the
light, if needed. He hates having to snow blow when it's dark.

We go to get the mail everyday at the post office. Went this after-
noon and there was only one magazine. Too bad I don't know ahead of time
that's it not worth going. We used to have a mailbox at the bottom
of the driveway, but kids kept coming down the hill, and hitting it
with a baseball bat, and we got tired of replacing mail boxes, so
I go to the Post office, sometimes every other day, sometimes daily.

Wordless Wednesday

Hi All,

A cold icy day. Hubby's car had to be dropped off at the
fix-it place a mile away this morning. The drive was icy,
so hubby took his car down first, then walked up, with his
Yak Trax, and then he drove me and my car down. I got in
my driver's seat, and drove to the fix-it with hubby following
in his car. After dropping his key and car there, he drove
me home and left for work in my car. Such is life, I'm
stuck here at home today.

Guess I could do some knitting. The sleeves are slowing
getting close to the end. Still haven't sewn together
the top yet. Will have to do that soon. I will take
pictures soon.

I had a nice birthday on Monday. My daughter sent me
flowers which was nice. Though had to wait for an hour
for it to come after they called for directions.
My visiting teacher came and gave me a card and
a small box of chocolates. Have only eaten two
so far. That night, hubby took me out to eat,
and I had the yummiest steak I've had in a long
time. They had cooked it just like I like it.
It was too big, so hubby finished it for
me and he said it was yummy.

I Still haven't gotten the package from folks
and can't get to the post office to see today,
as hubby has my car. Such if life.

Today is my Birthday!

Well, today is my birthday. Hubby nearly forgot this
morning, until I mentioned that maybe he forgot something.
Then it hit him. He went into his closet and brought
out a box for me. Then he went to work. I opened it and
it had Knit Picks Options Circular Needles. There was also
a needle sizer and the needle size tags. What a great
present. Yes, I had asked for it, but yes! he got it!

Then this afternoon a florist called me for directions.
Turns out my daughter and family sent them to me. So
had to wait for them for an hour, but aren't they pretty?

Went to the post office hoping to get the present my folks
were sending. But it wasn't there yet. Maybe tomorrow.
I did, however get some bras I had ordered. They only
sent me two, to see if they fit. If so, I tell them
and they will send the rest of the order.

I made myself a cake this morning. Just a yellow cake
with Chocolate icing. The icing pretty much tore
up the cake, but even though it looks funny, it
should taste fine.

Hubby took me out for a Stake Dinner. It was yummy,
cooked just like I like it. Filled me up and
will have to wait a while for the cake.

Sunday

Well, hubby decided he was still sick during church,
so had to bring him home. But after a nap, he is
outside in the cold, talking on the cell phone.
Silly man.

I was waiting for a game to load on Pogo, and
so I was knitting on one of the sleeves of the
duster. Got 4 or 5 rows done I think. Then
the game wasn't working very well, so closed
it and decided to update this.

Downloaded lots of knitting podcasts last
night to my iPod Nano. Found lots of
new ones that appeared since the last
time I looked. Will have lots to
listen to while I knit. If you have
iTunes, just search for knitting podcasts.
If no iTunes, then do a Google search
for knitting podcasts.

Saturday Sky and update

Well, another cold day, but nice and sunny though.
Hubby ran the snow blower and then asked me to go
to the post office. By the time I showered and
dressed, and got ready to go, the driveway had
melted, and was quite easy to get out and in.

Well, this is the state of the sleeves of the
tilted duster, after frogging back to the
ribbing. Only have 2 increases so far, but
I am doing the increases on both sides, so
have 46 stitches so far. The sleeves will get
wider than before I suppose.

Not much happening today. Been reading a good
book, one from bookcase, a re-read.
Then picked up one of the sleeves and did four rows
anyway.

Snowing

Wow, Snow, and yes it's still snowing.
Felt good that you can see the snow falling in the
picture. Click on the picture to see it big.

So, my clear driveway is no longer clear. Hubby ran
the snow blower this morning, but it's about that high
again.

I went to a site called The Dish, and read about her
rant on Order of the Phoenix. I agreed with everything
she said. I didn't like it much either, they didn't
stick with book. Usually I get hubby to give me the
DVD of the movies, but didn't ask for that one. The
book is just so much better.

Well, I'm house bound today. No way going out in that
mess. Yes, it looks pretty, but not if you're in the
middle of it. Hubby had a rotten drive to work and
told me not to expect him at the usual time. He will
have to run the snow blower, maybe tonight to help
get his car up, who knows? We live halfway up a hill
with an awful driveway that doesn't get any sun. We
both have all wheel drives, for basically the driveway.
But hubby's is low and the snow might pack under it.

Today I went to Knitting Group and my friend Connie's house.
There were 4 of us today. I took a washcloth to knit on
as anything more confusing is hard to knit while chatting.
I also took some yarn I had bought to show, and a vest I
haven't worked on in a while, since I've been working on
the Tilted Duster. Once I get that done, I will finish
the vest, and then start the Fair Isle Sweater.

Another cold windy day. Stopped at Subway on the way
home for lunch, had a roast beef sub.
